Stressed about wedding next year

Christina, on September 9, 2020 at 10:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
I unfortunately like many brides had to postpone my wedding twice, my fiancé and I finally moved it to 5/30/21. Now the governor has extended the 50 person max for large gatherings until 2/9/21. Should I move my wedding to NH where they would allow 100+ wedding guests or wait it out 😭 help a stressed out bride. I couldn’t be more frustrated with this entire process ugh I’m sure so many of you feel the same way.

What state are you in now?

If it's close and it's important to you to keep your full guest list, I would probably move to NH. I think we can reasonably predict that certain states, like New York and Massachusetts, will be some of the last to fully reopen, even if case counts are low.

My dad is an investor and he says that he is successful when he plans as though things will follow the trend they are on right now. The trend in some states is, even with low case counts, very very slow reopening. You should not expect that to change in those states.

If it's not too large of a hassle to move it to NH then that's actually not a terrible solution!

I am in the process of moving my date from 10/01/21 to 07/01/2022. For your situation, I’d look into seeing which option is easier for you. Is it easier to move it to NH or just to postpone again? I’m so sorry everything is stressful. The pandemic has really turned things upside down and you absolutely deserve to have your special day! I’d personally push it out farther but if moving the location fits your needs better than by all means, do what is best for you 💕

I’m unfortunately 32, want to buy a house and move forward with our lives so we either gamble with CT rules or move to NH. Thank you for your sweet words, good luck to you as well 💕

I live in CT, per my understanding you currently you can have 100 people outdoors and 25 indoors. No word on when this will change. Is your wedding indoors? Can your venue provide you an outdoor option?

My venue is unfortunately only indoors for reception which is my issue. The venue can’t provide an outdoor option due to being on a marina.

I would NOT move to another state. Honestly, things change so quickly, you cannot know what the either state will do, if they will start quarantining people from other states, and if people would even be able to travel out of state. (We've seen a number of people on here with job-related restrictions on travel.)

Since you've moved until May of next year, I'd wait a bit to make any decisions.

I’d probably move it if I were you. I understand your dilemma, and for me it was important to get married in a *somewhat* normal fashion this year, and we were willing to do whatever we needed to in order to make that happen. We were married in Wisconsin and there were less restrictions than Illinois, where there seems to be no end to the 50 person limit in sight. It was the best decision for us. We had 120 guests in a large indoor/outdoor venue, and everyone stayed safe and healthy.
