Stress acne!

GettingMarriedinMay, on April 26, 2017 at 10:31 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

So my wedding is in 10 days (OMG) and over the past week, I have had MAJOR breakouts above my lips and on my chin. Huge breakouts! I already use proactiv and have been using it for almost 20 years so I rarely get breakouts. I know that the recent breakouts are due to stress (I was laid off 3 weeks before my wedding after working at the same company for the past 11 years!) . My mom, who was supposed to walk me down the aisle, fell and fractured her knee so she's in a wheelchair with her left leg extended straight out and can't put any weight on it for 6 weeks at least. On top of that, she is diabetic and on Saturday she didn't eat or take her medication so she went into a diabetic type coma and 911 had to be called. After giving her a full bag of insulin she was okay. Keep in mind, the wedding is in So Cal where all my family is and I live in Nor Cal with my FH. So my question is, how do I get rid of this acne FAST??

    Oh goodness.

I am so sorry to hear all this. Wow. Definitely stressful. I can totally agree.

I suffer from acne along my chin and that's hormonal acne. I went to my doctor and she advised me to wash with gentle soap because I'm super sensitive and I can get rashes quickly from anything.

I went for my first facial last week and it's been the best thing I could have ever done.

I tried basically every topical and it took months to see results. I'm on BC and that's a factor of my acne but I cannot and will not get off that just because my skin.

I would go treat yourself to a facial and it will do wonders.

Sorry for everything your dealing with

@Hannah I've never had a facial before and don't think I want to try my first one only 10 days before my wedding. That would give me more anxiety!! Haha Thank you for the kind words tho! @Happily aloe and ice? What do you mean?

I've heard great things aboit facials but I've never had one and am way too scared to have my first one only 10 days before my wedding (and 8 days before we fly out to the wedding). Maybe I'll try some Noxema, thanks @Kristine. And Thanks everyone for the support and ideas! Wedding stress acne is real haha

Oh wow, so many things happening all at once! I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this. For the acne, I use tea tree oil as a spot treatment and it works really well. I've also heard great things about the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I've never tried it though. Increasing your water intake is always a good idea.

Also, I would suggest trying to relax. Talk through all this with your FH. I find that my FH generally talks me down from the ledge and makes things seem doable/less of a stressor. Take a nice bubble bath, maybe some wine. I hope everything works out!!

I'm sorry you're dealing with all this! I agree that a facial this close to your wedding is a bad idea. Maybe you can try to get an appointment with a dermatologist?

Oh and let me add, my FFIL texted FH this morning and said he HAS poison ivy and will be going to the Dr today to get a steroid shot to help eliminate them. My FIL live in TX and are driving to so cal for the wedding (supposed to be leaving this wknd to start the drive). Did I also mention FFIL is also the BM (no GM)? Sigh.....stress is just increasing! @Allie I've been trying to increase my eater intake also in the hopes that it will flush out all the toxins. Bubble bath sounds nice too....thanks!

OP: I usually cleanse my face with cleanser before I'm going to sleep. Then on the large breakouts I'll place ice on them to reduce the redness and swelling. Then I use just a basic aloe that you would use for sunburn. It makes your face feel so good after! Good luck! I hope everything gets better! You're wedding will be amazing regardless of a break out or two.

@MrsMcK I might try to get an appt but it might be difficult as my insurance is only good until the end of this month. After we get married I'll be added to my FH/DH insurance but for now, I only have a few more days of insurance and it might be difficult to get an appt before my insurance runs out AND before the wedding. I'll see what I can do tho. Thanks for the idea!

Wow sorry to hear all this!

First, drink lots of water, and try to avoid sugar and maybe dairy.

I like Sephora Green Tea Masks, they have helped calm my breakouts, and left my skin feeling great. You can try the overnight ones or the 15 minute ones, either way.

Do you have a dermatologist? Maybe she/he can give you some sort of spot treatment.

Drink a gallon of water per day. I've been doing this consistently for a month and all the acne on my chin has cleared up. It was really bad at one point.

Check out the Mario badescu drying lotion. Apply a dab with a cotton swab every night.

Also second drinking water and avoiding sugar/soda and dairy(I personally notice these make me break out)

@Am3131 I just ordered those on Amazon but it sucks that they won't be here until 5/2 (I'm flying out 5/4!) so hopefully the acne will be gone by then but if not, I'll use those as a last resort (and its always good to keep them on hand as the reviews were great) so thanks for the tip!

I'm trying to drink more water so I'll continue to do that, along with some of the other ideas from PP. Thank you so much everyone for your ideas and support. 10 days left and I thought I would be stress-free!! Smiley smile

Girl my friend at the same problem with her face the day before her wedding all you need to do is put some benedryl (GEL) on your face overnight trust me...wash your face do not use any scented soap or lotion and put the benedryl

if you going to get Aloe make sure you get the actual plant and rub it on your face. I am serious about this.

I'm getting stress breakouts too but luckily I have a few weeks to go! I wouldn't switch up your skin care routine honestly. That could make it worse. Some products purge your skin and could make you break out worse. Or make your skin super dry. Just drink a lot of water and don't pick! Your MUA will be able to cover it!!

Good point @GoingGray I hired a MUA for a reason. And My photographer can Photoshop that stuff out too haha I don't want to break out even MORE so I'll see be sticking with drinking tons of water for now and crossing my fingers. I did order that pimple patch as a last resort tho haha Thanks everyone!

@gettingmarriedinmay aw yeah I wish they had 2 day shipping on those but seriously they help so much! It's a hydrocolliod patch so there's no product on them, it's the material itself that just sucks everything up. I've had a lot fewer breakouts since using them since I'm not popping zits and spreading the bacteria on my face. Good luck, I hope you're able to relax soon!
