Strapless Bra or cups sewn in?

Courtney, on July 29, 2019 at 5:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7
I am kind of stressing out here. When I purchased my dress at the beginning of the month, the seamstress told me to wear a strapless bra. I am big chested and she said that a strapless bra would give more support than sewing cups in. When I tried my dress on today for cap sleeves, I can notice my bra line on my back and I think it is going to be too low cut for a strapless bra. I also want to pull it down in the front some I think. It just really doesnt fit me in the chest area right now. My first fitting will be in December and I dont know if I should take a strapless bra with me to the appointment.

Take a strapless bra that you know fits you well and then after the fitting you can go from there. They do make low back ones. I wore a normal one for my first fitting to see if I needed a different one. The one I had was ok, but painful so I went to a specialty shop that measured me and got a better fitting one that is sooo comfortable. My next fitting I wore that and my seamstress needed to pull it down maybe a half inch and said she would have a strap in the back of my dress to keep my bra down.

Ok when you say specialty shop do you mean like Victoria's Secret or somewhere like that? I am going with my BM's next month to look at dresses at David's. I didnt get my dress from there, but I know they have corset bras there. I just hate to spend that money if it isn't going to work..... I don't know if they let you return things like that.

The place I went to is specifically a bra shop. Not a chain like VS or David’s, although out of those two, I would choose David’s because I feel they would have more options. I would also call the shop you ordered your dress from to see if they have any shop recommendations. The one I went to was actually next to the shop my sister got her dress at, which is the only reason I knew they existed.

My dress is similar top, off shoulder I am not wearing a bra at all. I’m small chested but don’t see a reason for a bra either. The dress is thick enough to conceal any ummm.:: ya know what’s from showing...

I am also large chested and when I went in with my strapless bra, it made my breasts look even bigger and you could see straight down the dress of giving me a hug or I bent over. No way to fix it so my seamstress told me to go without a bra as my dress is a corset and it held me in place perfectly. My dress is lace and rhinestones on the top so no see through concerns. Talk with your seamstress for best suggestions for your dress.
