Stolen Centerpieces?

Terri, on December 30, 2019 at 8:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15

Hello fellow brides! I have a question...do you worry about your centerpieces walking off? If you have...what are your thoughts for deterring that possibility? We are doing a themed wedding and are using some pieces/ornaments/embellishments that are our and are not favors...we are planning on putting them into glass jars...but they may still "grow legs"...how do you plan on handling that? If at all?

Thanks!

I've been to weddings where the centerpieces were taken...the bride was planning on using them for something else, and I don't want that happen to me.

I hope not! Our centerpieces will be borrowed from our venue, so people better not touch them 😳

We have general ones that are being borrowed from the venue as well as our own to enhance...I've seen it happen so I don't want it to happen to us.

I have heard of people taking centerpieces because I think some people are under the assumption that they can take them?!?! I find it odd that someone would assume this but people are odd. We have a small group of people so I'll just tell at them of they try to run off

    LoL!

Bride on the war path! I love it!

My bridesmaids and I were trying to brainstorm ideas on how to approach it nicely...we are expecting 150 people. I was thinking maybe a tag on it that says displays belong to....or something like that.

The venue will have people milling around as well, so their stuff I'm not so worried about...ours though...might

Half of my family would do this! My cousin did something absolutely brilliant that I am trying to figure out how to incorporate-she left a sheet of paper on each table that guests were to write well wishes for that number anniversary on and then place it in the centerpiece for the couple to look at later. It was a super cute idea and eliminated the need to directly say they could take the centerpiece.

Tags might not be a bad idea. I was thinking of labeling some of my personal decor so the florist or venue doesn't take it. I've bought some lanterns, votive holderw, chargers, etc.. I wouldn't be too happy if they disappeared.

My friend once took a centerpiece home because someone at the table said she could. Turns out the centerpiece was rented and once she was told by the bride returned it immediately. Some people think it’s like showers where the centerpieces are up for grabs, like used as a prize. If you don’t want centerpieces taken you can mention that in the faq section of your website or have your dj make a mention of it during the night. You can also put a note or tag on it that says who it needs to go home with.

I have never been to a wedding where things that weren't listed as wedding favors walked off? Maybe have your wedding favors close to the entrance so everyone knows they are getting something lol

Why would your guests steal from you? If you have people you think would do that, you probably shouldn't invite them. I would never even consider taking something from a table unless I was specifically told to.

Some people think it's a given. So many weddings have given them away that a lot of times, people think that's the norm. It won't be for us and I am just trying to pre-emptive strike that.

That's an idea. I was thinking of putting them on the place settings...I still think I'm going to do the tag idea though.
