Still White

For those of you who have purchased your dress from Still White or another preowned website, how was your experience? Did you try the dress on at a store before you purchased online, or did you just hope for the best?

I would try on the dress in a store if at all possible. Buying a wedding dress is nothing like buying an everyday sundress or anything. I ended up purchasing a silhouette I never would have thought would look good on my body, but it did.

I would try dresses on to get a better idea of you wedding dress size and so you can find out what you like on your body. Then order online.

I got mine from there and my experience was beyond great. Mine turned out to be a 2017 and I couldn't find it anywhere in store to try on beforehand but I made sure to ask for extra photos of the dress than the professional ones the particular seller displayed.

If you can, I would try on dresses at a store first if it would ease your mind. Definitely take a look on Stillwhite and see if you can find the dress cheaper than retail price. Even though I couldn't find my dress in a physical store, I made sure it was around my size and took a leap of faith.
It was exactly what I was hoping for and more. It was also over 60% off retail price even though she had never worn it. Just be sure to ask every question you can possibly think of including refund policies. The site is also teamed with PayPal for secure payments.

Step one is actually go try on dresses at the shop( I gave gift baskets to the people that really helped me out) and choose top 3. After that then go find preowned, as you have already tried it on and knows what it looks like on you. Always buy a size or two up to fit your shape without ruining to pattern, this might cost more in alterations so be prepared for that.

I came really close to buying online and I'm glad I didn't (although if you've tried something on in person but the price is too high, online seems like a good choice).

I did try stuff on initially at a preowned dress shop and it was crazy how some fabrics were extremely hot, heavy, or scratchy. I think it's important to be comfortable on the big day, or else you'll be distracted by the discomfort and not fully appreciate the good parts.

I didn't purchase my dress second-hand, but I am currently trying to sell my wedding dress second hand and I regularly like to buy second hand clothing. I would recommend going to a bridal salon and trying on other dresses in the same brand to get a feel for the sizing. The exact dress may or may not be available to try on, but as long as you can try on other dresses by the same designer, you should be good. Also ask a lot of questions to the sellers before purchasing!

I bought my reception dress on StillWhite without having tried it on, or any similar dress. I needed a swingy, poufy, knee/tea length dress, and if you don't want to buy from a sketchy Chinese website, which I didn't, there are limited options for this style of dress in the US. I found a suitable one on SW for $250, so I went for it.

For the "big dress", however, I would definitely try on dresses in person first. There is too much variation in style, how things look etc. to be able to tell what you want.

In Chicago area there are stores that sell samples from salons at similar prices. Not sure where you live but they came in all sizes as I’m a plus size gal.

I bought my dress of still white and hoped for the best. The seller was excellent and gave me insurance for the package so it wasn’t left at my doorstep. It was a size bigger but I knew that already and will get it altered. Everything turned out good.

I had a very positive experience from Still White. I bought a sample dress and honestly, the sample dress was WAY dirtier than a used dress would have been but one dry cleaning took care of it. I also did have it altered as the straps were way too long, it needed to be taken up and I also added some lace in the front for modesty. I have a pretty "true to size" frame so I took a risk, took an educated guess on the size and ensured that, if it didn't fit, I could return it (the seller I purchased it from gave me 48 hours to return the dress if I didn't want to keep it. I think that is an important thing to ask for before purchasing). I easily saved 1000 dollars on the dress (dress was 450+115 for cleaning +117 for alterations. Dress retail was 1600 and then you would have had alterations on top of that). Here is a photo of it from just this morning. I really do love it.
