Still White Website

Jasmine, on April 11, 2020 at 8:43 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23
It's a site where Brides can sell their wedding dresses. I'm still looking for a dress and o found a gorgeous one! Has anyone used it to buy or sell their dress or know of someone who has?? Is it trustworthy??

Thanks!

I posted my dress up on it to sell. Never ended up selling because I had people message me and never move the deal forward. The seller has to pay for a listing. I would look at the photos and make sure they look like the real dress and not one that got pulled from online (although Still White is pretty good at flagging those). I think, overall, it's pretty legit.

Thanks. That was my main concern is because I've seen a few postings where it was nothing but the online photos of the dress. I messaged the seller and she said she will send me photos of the dress out of the bag.

She explained to me how she supposedly hasn't worn it. Still waiting on the photos of the dress out of the bag so I guess we'll see what happens. It's absolutely gorgeous and I'd be devastated if it's a fake post.

I bought my reception dress on StillWhite 🙂 I asked lots of questions before I bought to make sure I knew what I was getting, including asking for some measurements she hadn't listed and asking for a picture of the dress's tag. The dress arrived almost exactly as described; there was a small hole in the mesh on the back and her seamstress kind of butchered the neckline, but I knew about the neckline from the pictures before I bought it. Definitely make sure you can see pictures of the actual dress and ask lots of questions.

StillWhite doesn't let you return unless it's misrepresented. I previously bought a dress from Nearly Newlywed, which I ended up returning (had to pay a restocking fee though), so I knew some of the things to look out for.

Oh, and one other thing - I know it's hard/impossible to do now, but if you haven't yet, try to go for a round of dress shopping in person. I've seen some gorgeous dresses online that didn't look right when I tried them on. If you know the dress you want, resale sites are a good option.

I say that as I didn't try on the reception dress I bought...but I was a bit more flexible on that, and since it's tea length I had limited options to begin with.

Thank you! I'm definitely in the process of asking questions because I'm pretty skeptical as it is. I'm waiting on photos from her. She said she hasn't worn it but will send photos of the dress out the bag. I'm so anxious!!

Oh definitely. I've done quite a bit of shopping beforehand and then even got a dress from anomalie which was a disaster in my personal experience.

Yes. I found my FSIL dress on stillwhite. She asked the seller a million questions and made sure the measurements were exact before she bought it but it’s a beautiful gown never worn.

That's the same situation I'm in. I just got photos of the dress out the bag (never worn) and it looks the same as in the model photos. I'm still asking questions too. Even though the dress looks amazing, were you scared that you might not like it once you put it on??

It was my FSIL not me. She tried it on in a boutique beforehand and fell in love with it but it was a Hayley Paige priced at 3 or 4K. So it was a little above her budget. So everyday, twice a day I searched and searched until I found it. It only took about 2-3 weeks. But she was just as much in love with it as when she tried it on in the boutique.

Oh. That's actually my issue. The store that the designer's website said I could physically get it, doesn't have it so I haven't been able to try it on. I know for a fact that dress is worth more than what she's selling it for.

I had to call several boutiques in my area to find my gown then I had to pay 150$ to have them ship it from another boutique across the country. But the 150$ went toward my gown if I chose to purchase it which I knew I was going to because I just had that “gut feeling” as soon as I saw it. I’d keep calling places. Even if you may have to drive a little out of your way you may find it. Look for your dress on the knot I think they have a more extensive list of boutiques that carry a certain gown. But I just googled about a hundred boutiques that I was willing to drive to and called until I got a way to see my gown.

Care careful and skeptical, but that's a legitimate site. I'm trying to sell a few on preownedweddingdresses.com and they're really similar. I had a fraudulent buyer, actually. Always use their payment site. Any protection you have is gone if you guys start communicating off-site

I sold two dresses on here. One I had never worn, and one I wore on my wedding day. It was easy and relatively painless. We had a little issue with paypal, but It was eventually resolved. I would just make sure the seller has actual photos of the dress in its current condition and not just stock photos or photos from their wedding day.

Oh. Ok. Thanks. Hopefully we don't have an issue with PayPal. I definitely asked for realized life photos of the dress. She said she never wore it and she even sent a photo with the tag still attached.

That seems pretty legit then! I think it’s a great way to get what you want for a fraction on the price. I know the girls who bought both my dresses had tried them on in store, so knew what size they were looking for. That helps too. Good luck and congrats!

Thank you! I'm just hoping no one else buys it before I get the chance.
