Still Waiting on Photos

Melissa, on January 20, 2022 at 9:50 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Hey everyone!

I was hoping to get some advice here.. It has been almost 15 weeks since my wedding date. My husband and I got married in early October. I received the previews of my wedding photos late last month- about 15 pictures. I was really glad to receive the previews, but I am still waiting on the rest of the photos to come back from my photographer. Our contract said 8-12 weeks would be the turn around time. I wanted to give some grace due to the pandemic and the holidays, but it just feels like I keep getting pushed around.

When we first scheduled our initial engagement shoot, the photographer reached out the day of the shoot and told us that she needed to reschedule because she wasn't feeling well. I understood and we moved the shoot. Then the day of the shoot arrived again, and she tried to move it again and acted annoyed that I didn't want to move it again.

It took about 2-2.5 months to get our preview photos back, and now we are almost 3 weeks past the contract time frame. I don't want to harass her or irritate her, and I'm also afraid to reach out because she already told us that we would have the rest of the photos by last week and that still hasn't happened, so I'm afraid she's just going to keep giving me timelines that she can't meet instead of being honest with me about the time frame.

So it just kind of feels like I haven't been a priority throughout this entire process. I have vendors that are asking me about the photos, a MIL that wants more photos, and I really wanted to look through the rest of the photos and add a couple of them on the thank you cards.

Did any of you guys have the same issue with your photographers? Any thoughts or advice?

Thank you!

Melissa

Since it's been three weeks after the deadline listed in the contract, I would reach out to the photographer. Maybe say something like, "We were looking at the wedding preview photos again, and we love them! We are so excited to see the rest of the photos! Our contract states that we would have them 8-12 weeks after the wedding, though we understand that you've been busy. Do you have an updated timeline of when we can expect to receive our wedding photos?"

Thank you very much! I don't want to harass her or anything, but I am so excited to see the rest of the pictures and how they turned out. I really liked how you worded that message, so I'll send her over a response to that effect now. Thanks again! Smiley smile

I totally understand not wanting to harass or rush the photographer! If it were only a week or so beyond the deadline in the contract, I would have suggested waiting a little while longer, though 3 weeks beyond the deadline with no photos and no updated timeline is long enough to where I'd ask for an update. Best wishes, I hope you receive your photos soon!

That timeline is ridiculous in my opinion. You should not have to wait that long. You paid for a service as stated in the contract that has not been delivered.
They are past the deadline and in breach of contract. My contract states up to 30 days to receive photos.

You’re better than me. I reached out to our photographer when he was a week past our deadline. Lol I just said “No rush just curious of what the status is on our pictures. Again no rush, we’re just very excited to see them!”
