Still haven’t ordered a dress panicking

Shania, on May 7, 2020 at 8:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Hey Brides!
So I’m getting married in September and I still haven’t ordered my dress.. Back in January, I had plans with my mom and grandma to go shopping and try some on. My mom always canceled because she’s a busy woman. She’s studying for her doctorate degree, she works full time, and she takes care of my 6 year old autistic brother. My mom is a literal superhero. I really want her to be apart of this experience so I understand things have to be on her time. So we postponed, and then Covid-19 hit... what should have been a fun experience, turned into my worse nightmare. My mom and grandma got scared to go to the bridal shops and then the bridal shops closed their doors. I have no idea what style of dress looks good on me because I’m a plus size girl. I always have to try things on to figure it out. What do I do? I’m 4 months away from my wedding. Is there a shop that can get me a dress in less than 2 months? I need help Smiley sad

Azazie can ship you dresses to try on for 15 bucks and you return them.

Also given covid a few stores in your area may be allowing you to pick up some dresses to try on at home so look into that as well

I agree with pp if you do the azazie try on program that seems like a nice option because you can look at your absolute favorites and try it on at home

Azazie and cocomelody do try at home. I got mine from David's Bridal, and even though it was made for me specially and not in the warehouse they still rushed it in under a month. DB is also doing virtual appointments! A lot of bridal salons are I believe.

Cocomelody has 45 days production time standard and you can pay to get it made in 35 days. However I’ve read it tends to take longer given quality control & shipping. You may not have a lot of time to do their home try on and order a dress at this point. I would look at what other plus size brides are wearing. Here’s a good post...

Have you looked into Anomalie ? They are custom dress designing service. They have a whole process that walks you through it and can help you choose what works best for you. Check them out.

Do you have the ability to go to any stores to get an idea of what silhouette looks good on you? I had good luck with second-hand (my dress was new with the tags on, got it for 1/3 of the cost it would have been in the boutique). I ordered mine from Stillwhite.

Where are you located? I bought a sample dress in my size from Princess Bridal Off the Rack. The alterations are CRAZY expensive, but if you go to an off the rack store ASAP and then straight to the tailor, you can still do this. Also, have you seen any of the BHLDN dresses? I think they come in pretty quickly and are flattering. My 2nd runner up was The Monarch Dress. Best of luck to you! Off the Rack is a dress used to try on but never purchased and worn. Many high end bridal shops sell their samples for a discount. It could still be pretty pricey......
