Sticky bras or sew in cups?

Aja, on March 21, 2018 at 12:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
My dress has an illusion back. I was hoping to find a longline bra that dipped really low in the back, but to no avail! So that leaves me with the option of sew in cups or a sticky bra. I've heard that sew in cups don't offer much in support if you're on the busty side which I am. I haven't heard anything about sticky bras, but I would assume it also wouldn't offer support. I wish that I had thought about this detail when picking out a dress, but I love it! What's been your experience with either method?

Ugh I had cups sewn into my dress (I don’t need much support) but I feel like when i look down at my chest it seems to be gaping. So I think I’m going to wear a sticky bra as well.

Im having cups sewn in, I'm a 34dd. If it seems I need more support, I'm going to wear a sticky bra with them.

I'm DD. I used sew in cups and had no issues, but my dress also had a built in shaper/corset with a zip and clasp back. I've attempted to use a sticky bra for a black tie Gala and it was horrible.

I've had zero luck with sticky bras because they don't provide support. If you have cups sewn in by an experienced seamstress they should provide plenty of support. I've done this for 3 different dresses and am 34D/DD and they seem to always provide lift and support.

I'm a 34DD and I had to tape my boobs up with athletic tape... my back was open so there was nothing in back pulling the fabric tight under my bust which meant my boobs would have just slid right out and under any sewn in cups lol. Taping is a miracle worker though!! Look up tutorials if you are curious.

ETA: My seamstress even said I couldn't do sew in cups because with my style dress they wouldn't have worked.

The illusion back should give a little extra support for the sewn in cups (provide a little tension to the front, which it wouldn't if fully open). I think that is the way to go.

There are also bra entensions. It basically hooks onto your existing bra but allows the hooks to be lower and not seen. I got one from Victoria Secret a while back

I bought this sticky bra for my brothers wedding this past year and it worked out great. However, I'd make sure you give yourself enough time to put it on exactly how you want it. It gave me some great cleavage which helps in the "lift" look. I'm a 38-40D or so.

I liked this because I also pulled them together which eliminated some of the underarm-bra fat too. Not sure if you're bigger, but even with smaller girls it seems like the longline bras then offer way too much opportunity for visible squeezing, hanging over, lines, etc. This thing was very soft, added some cuppage and cleavage, and was cheap. Very sticky and reusable.
