Stepdad/Daughter Dance

jay, on May 7, 2017 at 9:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Future Bride has a 12yr old daughter, have thought about doing a Stepdad/daughter dance with her during our special dances during wedding. FB is a widow, he passed away when daughter was very very young. Ive been around bout 5 yrs now, there is a song i had in mind but unsure to use. If it would fit/ be proper to use. Angels Among Us, by Alabama. would prob start it after the talking part. Or if anyone else had a song they could recommend.

Cant use Butterfly Kisses, or Over the Rainbow.

I think it would be very sweet as long as your stepdaughter and future wife like the idea. If so, it would be very special.

Check out My Wish by Rascal Flatts? It's sweet, not father daughter specific.

My Wish is great, and I understand wanting to surprise your FW...I'm sure it'll bring her to tears! However, have you brought this up with your soon-to-be step-daughter? She may have her own song in mind, and if I remember that age correctly, I'd be all for keeping it a secret and surprising my mom!

He Didn't Have to Be by Brad Paisley.

It's a song from a son's perspective, but it's one of the best step-parents songs I've ever heard.

    LYRICS (first couple verses)

"When a single mom goes out on a date with somebody new

It always winds up feeling more like a job interview

My momma used to wonder if she'd ever meet someone

Who wouldn't find out about me and then turn around and run

I met the man I call my dad when I was five years old

He took my mom out to a movie and for once I got to go

A few months later I remember lying there in bed

I overheard him pop the question and prayed that she'd say yes"

Just would want to be careful of what song to use, stepdaughters dad/Future Brides Ex, passed away while they were still married. Some songs listed above are really good, others may not fit the situation

don't wanna take anything away from her dad. His family is still very involved in her life(few are attending the wedding as well). The song i listed in the original post thought fit nicely, Saying someone from up above, sent an angel to look after and guide her. And its a song from one of my fav country albums as a kid.
