Step and Repeat Wall ?

Miss. Butter Pecan, on July 20, 2016 at 12:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

My photographer just did a email blast that she just started offering step and repeat walls for events . I'm considering this instead of a photobooth . What do you think ? Yay or Nay ?

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like I wouldn't really no what to do after one pose. That could just be me though!

Is it included in the package or additional cost? What is the price difference? I like it but idk if it's worth spending hundreds more...also would she bring a second photographer? Because I'm sure you will want pictures captured of you at the same time this is going on, so timing may be an issue if it is just her.

I like the casual, light hearted photobooth. I don't think goofy props would coordinate well with a step/repeat (if that was being considered). IMO, a step/repeat wall is strictly advertising/promotional and doesn't fit into a wedding atmosphere.

I wouldn't do it unless I had a theme where it made sense.

Like walking the red carpet. Might be nice for a NYE wedding or a very formal evening wedding where everyone is dressed to the nines.

What does that even mean? People actually use those words to describe the red carpet style walls? I never knew. Aren't those for getting photos of celebrities in front of sponsor names when there are lots of media there to get photographs? Are you having lots of media at your wedding? Not trying to make fun but really I don't see why unless you are having a) a bunch of sponsors for your wedding and b) a bunch of media people who will need photos of everyone in attendance.

eta: I'm sorry. I was trying to be gentle but now that I think about it more, I think it's incredibly tacky. Actual celebrities don't even have this at weddings. I think your photographer might mean for other events in town, not weddings. Like if she shoots for Gala events and banquets and Corporate parties too.

I'd side eye the crap out of a step and repeat.

I saw this done once at a VERY formal wedding - definitely Black Tie. People posed as groups versus individually. The photographer handling the red carpet walk was good in that he kept people moving. Also, people could decline going down the red carpet. IMO, it fit the feel of the wedding well and it was also a good way to get photos of the majority of the guests.

Honestly, in essence it was basically a photo backdrop and similar to a photo both without props.

Nah. This would be cool for a Hollywood themed 30th birthday party. Not wedding though.

@Miss Butter Pecan - this may be a dumb question so I apologize in advance Smiley smile, but is the $500 for a step-and-repeat with your photographer's business logo on it? Or a custom step-and-repeat for your wedding?

I'm sure the wall would have the couple's names & wedding date if they're paying a min. of $500 to have it.

If it had the photographer's name, she'd need to be paying the couples!

When I was in college, we had one of these at all of our formal dances. I also have used them for work events - I work at a university, and we've had one for Open Houses and Accepted Student Days. For a wedding..hmm....honestly I think that a photobooth would be better. I think people have more fun with those.

I'm having something similar to this because of my Hollywood style wedding. As guest enter they will walk the red carpet have their pictures taken then be escorted to their seats. Our wedding date, names are going on the back drop. Now I didn't have to pay extra because it's included in my photo booth contract, after the ceremony and cocktails the booth will open from 7pm- 11pm for props and candid pictures

I was at a wedding that had one, and we honestly didn't take any pictures in front of it. I'd skip.
