I have already received my gown, but had I know about one she had I would have tried it on because it was exactly what I wanted or at least I thought I did. I got an all over lace dress instead. It was alot cheaper than Stella York.

I have a Stella York. I ordered a size up from the size they had me in at the store. The one I had on in the store was just a tad to tight in the hips, so it was bunching up a little in that area and I didn't like the looks of that. It was also a bit to snug to sit comfortably. I will need more alterations in the size I ordered, but I wanted to be comfortable! I also had them do the 'hollow to hem' so I keep all the pretty detail on the bottom of my dress that otherwise my seamstress would have to cut off to make it the length I need.

My dress is essence of austrailia which my understanding is the same brand or owner or something? I think my size was pretty spot on. I ordered my normal street clothes size and it is too big and will need to be taken in a bit (my measurements were between sizes and I went up to be safe).

I have a Stella York! I love it!

Don't go by the sample size, they get stretched out. A good consultant will measure you, and absolutely go with your largest measurement corresponding to THEIR size sheet.

For example, my bust and waist measured a 12, but my hips were a 14. So we ordered a 14. I was worried, but once the dress came in, I was so glad I did because the 14 fits my hips perfectly. You can always take a dress in, but letting it out is more difficult.

Don't order down thinking "I'll lose the weight " because that puts so much stress on yourself, if you don't lose you'll be stuck with a dress that doesn't fit - and not all dresses can be let out

I ordered my 6432 early March and I'm a little worried I sized up too much but maybe they run small. With my measurements she suggested to order 4 dress sizes larger than my street size. And 1 size larger than what my measurements suggested. So I'm a little worried it'll need major alterations but then again I'm worried it won't fit. This waiting time is pure torture!

I ordered a Stella York in February. I measured a 6 in the hips/waist and a 2 in the bust (itty bitty over here) and ordered a 4. I was like less than a 1/4" off from measuring for a 4 in the hips so I'm not too worried about it but I'll know if I messed up royally up in June/July when it arrives! It's a very simple dress with no lace or beading so hopefully any alterations will be easy and affordable.

I just ordered a Stella York yesterday! Like @Faluf, I was a 6 in the waist/hips and a 2 in the bust. I decided to go with the 6. Keep in mind that bridal sizing tends to run small (I tend to be about a 2 in most street clothes) and ultimately the tag is just a number. It'll be so much easier for your seamstress to take in a dress rather than trying to let it out.

My dress 6404 was a prefect fit. I am a size 8 (or was anyway, since then, I've lost weight but not on purpose) Smiley sad

I was stuck in the middle of two sizes and ordered a size down. I've already lost some weight so here is to hoping I continue losing, but not too much. ETA that I bought a Stella lol

With my Stella, I went with the sizing from the chart which was up 1-2 sizes from street clothes. I think I was a 12 in the bust, and 14 in the hips but its flowy so even the 10 was fine in the hips so I went with the 12.

I have an Essense of Australia and went one/two sizes up from street size. I was between sizes and ordered up because I was larger in the bust. I chose a corset back too so it would be more forgiving and easier to fit in the waist as needed.

I got a Stella. They measured me to get my size and ended up being either a size 8 or 10. In street clothes I'm a size 4/6

I have a 14 which is pretty much my street size. I want the top smaller because it's a corset back but an inch or so looser in the hips.

I got my Stella 6347 based on my biggest measurement (el hippo's) lol so I'll be taking in the waist and bust areas. They can always take it in, but not always OUT.....I learned that the HARD way when I got my first dress!! lol

I'm considering a Stella dress that's about 4-6 sizes bigger than my street size... It's a sample thats just too good a price for my 'dream dress' to pass. How did your alternations turn out?

My seamstress did an amazing job. I fit be like a glove. I couldn't even tell where here alterations we're and my bodice had delicate lace and some bead work. I would definitely go to someone very professional to do it.

I got my Stella 6476 in a size smaller than the one they suggested me. I just refused to order an 8 and I’m glad I did because when the size 6 arrived it fitted perfectly on the hips and a little big on the waist and bust. I was a little bit scared because they made me sign a “requests size form” but I know my measurements tho and knew theirs were way off. I’m usually a street size 0/2 for reference.

I was between a 12 and 14 (my bust was a 14 but my tummy and butt was a 12) but i knew for a fact i didn’t want to wear a bra under my dress (had enough support) so i chose to order the 12, and even that size was a bit big in the bust so I’ll need it taken in another size however getting the 12 as a pose to the 14 which they recommended me to get fit nearly perfectly!

I sized up because of my chest and am nervous about alterations costs because I need to go down in size around my hips and waist.

Did sizing down work out for you? I fell between sizes too, an 8 and 10. Hips measure 39. Size 8 is 37.5 and size 10 is 39.5 in hips. I ordered 8.
