Stella York brides

Kerry , on July 12, 2017 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Hi

I fell in love with a Stella. They measured me up 2 sizes bigger than my "normal" size is that okay?

Also- how much did your alterations cost....

Just curious

Most wedding dresses run different sizes or smaller than street clothes. If they measured you 2 sizes bigger based off your measurements, then it is what it is.

Alterations vary depending on what seamstress you go to and what alterations need done.

Bridal gowns are sized differently than street clothes. They usually run smaller. My gown was measured about two sizes bigger than my regular size as well.

I haven't started alterations yet, so I will be no help there. Sorry.

My street size is 10-12 and my Stella York gown was ordered as a 16- it is a bag on me!

Alterations for bringing the seams in, adding a bustle (that was the most expensive part), pulling up the shoulders, and adding cups/tightening the bust was between $410-480.

My dress isnt Stella but.... My street size is 4 and my eve of milady gown was ordered in a 12 couture... my hips don't lie so they drove the sizing. It'll have to be taken in at the waist. So I'd say that sizing is accurate.

Alterations depend on where you live/ who you know. My alterations will be close to $600

Yes that's normal! I'm a street size 10 and they ordered my Stella York dress a size 14. I had my first alterations appointment last week and it fit pretty good. They're taking it in in a few places but that 14 was accurate. I know it's hard to hear that bigger number but don't worry!

I paid for my alterations when I bought the dress and they were $375 for everything except the bustle and the built in bra. It was an extra $160 for the bustle and the bra. They had two options, just the cups or like a push up one. I went push up and it was a little bit more

I'm a street size 4/6 and I ordered an 8. The 8 was SUPER snug in my hips and had to be taken out but the 10 was way too big everywhere else. Totally normal!
