I am planning my friends wedding and she wants Steampunk, Vintage, Alice in Wonderland (Time Burton) theme for her wedding reception. She also wants the reception to be a formal event. We are a month away and she is starting to feel nervous about whether or not some of her cosplay outfits will be suitable for a formal event.

Could the Groom in fact wear his Cosplay Suit, Bridesmaid's wear Blue Converse to match Alice Dress, and the Bride change into her Steampunk Alice Inspired Dress for the Reception and the event still be considered a Formal Event?

If my questions does not make sense, please let me know and I will ask differently.

Alice wears black mary janes in the animated adaptation. How easy is that? Honestly, you couldn't ask for an easier to find or more comfortable option that is right on theme. You could do pump style or flat! Converse are not edgy anymore. It's been done 1000 times before and the flats would be more formal than a sneaker for sure.

To many themes... narrow and go subtle- it'll really help a long way to make it chic and still formal.

And short dresses aren't formal- so I'd work something else in with that.

Subtly is KEY to "themed" weddings
