Steaming veil

Virginia, on January 2, 2020 at 1:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Hi! How is everyone storing their veils after they are steamed?? Mine is cathedral length and will have to be folded for storage and transport (I would assume). What do u do on the day of your wedding?

I just had mine with me in the bathroom when I showered the night before the wedding (in the hotel where we were getting married) and that pulled out any wrinkles from transport. Then I hung it over the door.

Oh darn. In that case I’d just say still steam it the night before, and then just lay it as flat as possible in the car, as loosely folded as possible. It probably won’t wrinkle much unless you give it tight folds or crumple it up into a bag or a box

Luckily my venue has a steamer in the bridal suite. Could you buy a small handheld steamer from like target or amazon?

Agree with this! I was just gifted a great little steamer from Amazon, only $25. Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/Hilife-Steamer-Handheld-Clothing-Capacity/dp/B07HF3X6Y4/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=steamer+for+clothes&qid=1577991090&sr=8-3

Otherwise I would just gently drape your veil over a hanger for transportation rather than folding Smiley smile

I'd definitely get a handheld steamer, just to be safe. They aren't too expensive. They don't work nearly as good as a commercial, professional steamer but are definitely better than nothing if your veil ends up wrinkled.

Daughter's venue had a steamer in the bride's room, so you might want to check before you purchase a portable one. Also, if your veil is tulle, it's typically pretty wrinkle resistant, so I agree with others about hanging it in your bathroom at home while you shower and then laying it out as much as possible during transport and it will probably be fine.
