Steaming the Dress

Denise, on August 18, 2019 at 2:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

So my dress is big, very big and fluffy. The lady at the boutique said it took her a long time to steam it. So, when do I take it out of the bag? Do I steam it? Do I send it to be steamed? What are you guys doing?

My bridal salon pressed/steamed my dress right before scheduled pick-up. They recommended that I pick it up at the last possible minute (I did it on the way to my DW) so I wouldn't need to do anything other than take it out of the bag the day-of.

I picked up my dress the week before my wedding. I was a little anxious because I travel with my dress to my destination wedding and of course the dress surfer this. The salon recommended to take the dress out when I arrive to my destination so the weight pulls down and the dress sets so doesn’t wrinkle. I had no issues with it and I didn’t need to iron or steam it again.

My seamstress is steaming my dress and veil for me right before pick up so I’m just leaving it alone until it’s time to wear it.

I bought a personal steamer and will be steaming my dress in the hotel the night before as needed! I will be hanging it by the window to let it air out and settle overnight as well!
