Steaming my dress

Alicia v., on March 10, 2017 at 3:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

The wedding is next weekend and I was trying on my dress and noticed it has some wrinkles in the front underneath my lace overlay. What have you ladies done with your dress? Self steamed or gone to a dry cleaners?

I got the dress from davids bridal but had it altered by a local seamstress so I doubt davids would help me out here.

And if anyone is in the D.C. / Baltimore area with a suggestion on a specific place to go for steaming I would be grateful !

Hang it on the back of the bathroom door. Run the shower on the hottest setting for a few minutes with the door closed. Should work a charm.

Hang it up in bathroom and run the shower hot as it goes. Leave it in there for 15 minutes and it should be good to go

The steamed bathroom may work, or you could buy a steamer.

We bought one from Aldi the other day.

If you can find a decently priced steamer, I really recommend that. Someone has brought one and put it in the getting-ready rooms for the weddings I've been a BM in. It's really convenient for the bride, BMs, GMs, and family members to steam out any last-minute wrinkles. Plus it's super convenient to just have in general, so you'll get use out of it!

Ask if David's or your seamstress will steam it for you. My boutique and my seamstress both offered to do it for me right before my wedding.

I self steamed using the Conair Extremesteam Hand Held Steamer. We got it off our registry a few weeks before the wedding and I was so psyched! It really works well and I've loved having it to use on my other everyday delicates that I don't feel like ironing after the wedding.

The shower works but it's not precise. I bought "my little steamer" for 20 bucks from BBB and it's awesome.

I would call DB and ask about having it steamed. They will probably do it for a fee.

I made sure DB could do it before I took it home, they just said schedule it before the wedding and they would take care of it.
