std and invitations - help!

Rachel, on January 11, 2020 at 11:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 6
Hi ladies!

FH and I are getting married 6/20/2020. We ordered invites and save the dates and on the RSVP card to be sent with the invites we wrote please respond by April 1. In hindsight that date may have been too early but it's printed now so we can't change it. We want to send save the dates this weekend and then we'd send invites the first or second week of February in order for guests to respond by April 1. Should we not send the save the dates since they'd be receiving the invite like a month later? Or do you think we could send invites the 2nd/3rd week of February and it's still enough time to RSVP by April 1?
Thank you!!

You should just print new RSVP cards. I understand the expense is inconvenient, but what’s more inconvenient is guests having to change their RSVP close to the wedding because you requested it too early.

I agree with Caytlyn. Just reprint your RSVP cards. Not sending your STDs is a waste. But sending them now and then your invites in 3 weeks is just too much.

Agree with pp's about reordering for the reasons stated, PLUS asking for your RSVPS 3 months in advance of the wedding date is pretty much guaranteeing people don't respond or if they do they later change their RSVP. Depending on where you got your wedding stationery, several of the popular vendors are actually really lenient/generous about doing reprints if you ask. So, it might not hurt to contact their customer service and tell them you realize you made a mistake when you ordered your RSVP cards and need to reorder corrected ones. Sometimes Zazzle, Shutterfly, etc., will offer to re-do them at no charge. Even if you have to pay, get new ones. Your RSVP date should be 7-10 days before your first guarantees are due, which is likely a week or two before the wedding date. The earliest your RSVP date should be is probably the third week of May. Good luck! (This is a pretty easy fix! Smiley smile )

I don't think save the dates are necessary at this point. I would also get new reply cards with a later RSVP date because that is definitely too early.

Are you able to reprint the RSVP cards? My wedding is 6/20. Sent STDs last weekend. Planning on sending invites the beginning of April with RSVP date May 20.

I do agree that STDs are not necessary at this point. They typically go out 8-10 months in advance. I would just focus on getting new RSVP cards with a better date, to make it easier for your guests and you.
