Staying healthy before the wedding

Jen, on February 12, 2020 at 10:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
I know I have a while before I get married in the fall, but I am concern about getting sick before the wedding. The reason I have this concern is because I am a first grade teacher and have been getting sick every month this year. I wash my hands constantly. Clean the tables and take vitamins. Any advice for when I start up school again before my wedding?

How long have you been teaching? I know I got such a lot more often in my first couple years than I do now (I also teach 4th grade, so my students typically have slightly better hygiene). I also have a strong immune system, so that helps, I’d make sure you’re always drinking lots of water, getting some movement in, and listening to your body. If you’re starting to feel like a cold is coming on, maybe call those early nights with lots of liquids and sleep. Take some zinc, echinacea, and Vitamin C during that time to help your body out. Have your students wash their hands after they use a tissue, and even coming in from lunch/recess if you have the tile (or even giving them a baby wipe when they walk in from the breaks).

I’m in my eighth year teaching but I still get sick sometimes. Before my wedding I took a lot of vitamin C and D, and drank emergen-C if I felt anything coming on. I also did no caffeine, alcohol, or sugary drinks for a few weeks before. And sleep is definitely key.

Don't forget to get your flu shot at least two weeks before the wedding. That is the most effective thing you can do to avoid being seriously sick at your wedding.

I don't get sick very often (maybe once a year but sometimes not even that). I always get a flu shot and I take vitamins every day. I drink a ton of water (and typically water only - no soda or other drinks). Eat healthy, lots of fruits & vegetables! Wash your hands, disinfect your phone, wash your sheets & change your bath towels frequently! Disinfect things like toothbrushes too, that you use daily & wouldn't normally think to. If you feel yourself getting sick, take EmergenC and go to urgent care!

Thanks everyone! This is my 6th year of teaching and I eat very healthy but my flaw is not drinking a lot of fluids. Working on it but it is hard when you have 24 6/7 year olds needing you all day 🤣😂. Definitely one of my goals.

I was terrified of getting sick before our wedding and honeymoon (in December). There were lots of colds/flu going around. I have heard good things about elderberry syrup preventing these types of illnesses so every day for two weeks before my wedding I had a spoonful. Not sure if I was lucky or the elderberry worked but I didn’t get sick
