Star Wars

Carla, on October 23, 2018 at 11:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12
I am planning on getting married on May 4, 2019 on purpose. We love Star Wars and this date is perfect...May the Fourth/Force be with you! I want Star Wars to be the theme but I want to make the wedding classy. We want to have fun but also don't want to look gauky or crazy. How do I do this? How do I still have remnants of our favorite movie series, yet still look nice? Any ideas? I have ideas in my head, but fear that I will be laughed at.

You may very well be laughed at, but the people who love and know you will understand and love it! The important thing is the you and your partner are happy. I don’t think I’d go with Princess Leia buns, but maybe?

you can probably do more reception wise than ceremony if you’re going for classy. R2D2 grooms cake. Star Wars favors. Starlit ceiling. I guess it depends on which part of the story arc, too. Good luck!!

If Star Wars is something you love then I say go for it! My future brother in law just got married and we had been on the hunt for ways to incorporate his love of Star Wars into the wedding. Here's some of the subtle things we found (probably my favorite is the bouquet handles and chair signs as they are a cute not to the series but not in your face too much).

    Star Wars 1

    Star Wars 2

    Star Wars 3

    Star Wars 4

    Star Wars 5

    Star Wars 6

    Star Wars 7

Friend of ours make their entrance to the reception as the imperial march.
You could have the guys wear star wars socks as a cute little nod!

Hello! We are having Star Wars elements in our wedding but it's not the overall theme lol. I made a sit or sit not Yoda sign. The grand exit will have people holding light sabers. I tried EVERYTHING I could to get I love you/ I know champagne flutes but FH for some reason was adamant about it being a no lol. The tentative plan is do our recessional to the song that plays at the end of the first original movie.

I think an easy way to elevate a theme is naming your tables. For instance I think I've seen Star Wars weddings with the planet names as the table names. But I think naming tables after characters is a little easier for the unintiated aka non Star Wars fans. Orrrrrrrrr as there are what 9 movies now you could even label them after movies depending on guest size. Good luck with everything and embrace your theme don't worry about people's opinions too much. Even if you were doing a more traditional wedding you still couldn't please everyone.

Huge Star Wars fan so I love this idea! If you're looking for subtle, little touches like the cake knife, topper, drink glasses, etc are good places to incorporate it. You could have glowing cocktails if you're having alcohol (named things like Bantha milk, etc). Tables named for places/events/characters and centerpieces that showcase the story with pictures, figurines, or Lightsabers. You could fix a japoor snippet (Padme's necklace) onto your bouquet or just wear it. Across the Stars is the prequel love theme, it's gorgeous instrumental music and could work well for the recessional. Good luck!

FH is more a Star Trek fan but we do the "I love you. I know" thing all the time, so it"s going to be our cake topper, like this one but in gold. We're getting Star Trek cufflinks for him. I'm having a brooch bouquet and one if the brooches will be a communicator pin. Just a few subtle touches.

Our recessional song is going to be the throne room theme! I thought that was a nice subtle way to incorporate Star Wars haha. People won’t even know what it is if they don’t know Star Wars :p my mom also had an idea to name our tables after planets from Star Wars. Not sure if we’re going to do that because I’m not sure how much we want to make it a theme, but it’s a great suggestion !

H and I are huge star wars fans, and huge nerds so we had small pieces of all things we love included in the wedding.

My sister had our toasting glasses made for us. Mine said I love you with Leia and His said I know with Han Solo.

For the reception we walked in while the Imperial March was playing,

Then our cake was a normal cake, then the back had super hero logos on the back (the venue had it facing the wrong way but it is fine.) So maybe instead of the super hero logo change it to Star Wars!

We also had the guys boutineers held by super hero action figures. Maybe use star wars action figures and let the bridal party pick their favorite character! They came out super cute!

    (no pictures of that yet!)

Also Happilee has some amazing ideas!

    Hope all this helps!

Bonus! A Picture of our cake!

I have zero advice for this, but we're date twins! On our end we didn't make that connection because neither of us are into Star Wars. Most everyone has pointed out that it's right before Cinco de Mayo though, if that gives you an idea about where my friend group's heads are haha! Scrolling through though, the socks are super cute!

Pinterest has a ton of ideas. Use music from any of the soundtracks, lightsabers for bouquets, celestial cake. Borrow hairstyles and/or costume ideas.
