Stamps with Rsvp?

Jeanette, on February 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 52
So I read that you should include a stamp with your rsvp’s. I hadn’t thought of that so I was going to include them when i send out my invitations but my fiancé says i shouldn’t have to becuase who doesn’t have stamps laying around at home. I just feel rude not sending them and expecting everyone to send it back but then again my fiancé isn’t the most thoughtful person LOL! Have you sent stamps along with your rsvp’s?

* i didn’t do online rsvp becuase both of our families are not tech savvy at all and plus grandmas and aunts like to keep invitations for memory so we figured this was best.

It's definitely expected to include a stamp. I don't have stamps lying around at home because we pay all our bills online.

It is considered rude to make guests pay to RSVP for a wedding. Before planning my wedding I never had stamps at home...so quite a few people don't just have stamps lying around.

I agree with the PPers. Include stamps. The last wedding I RSVP'ed for already had the envelope filled out with the stamp and everything. All I had to do was drop it in the mail. Super nice!

We put the stamps on the RSVP cards. We did not have stamps lying around and took an invitation to the post office, had that weighed to determine what stamp we would need to mail them out, and have them tell us what stamps we needed for the RSVP cards. Then we bought what we needed.

Your fiancé is definitely wrong on this. You should absolutely include a stamp with an RSVP. If you are expecting a response you should not make people pay to send that response.

Yes, send the return envelopes already stamped. It makes it much easier for people to return them.

Not that many people have stamps around anymore, and even if they did, it's expected to put stamps on the rsvp cards. Aside from being polite and expected, it also helps ensure your rsvps come back, as your guest doesn't have to worry about finding a stamp.

Some of mine includes stamps some of mine didn't.
Close family and friends like our parents we just gave them the invitations and know they will be there
Out of towers I mailed and filled out the RSVP envelope with stamps
Some local people who I know I'll see before the wedding we drove and put in their mailboxes and I know I'll see them by them and they can tell us if they are attending

Honestly, it was handwritten on an index card. With the registry information in there.

I do not have stamps at home - I have to go to the post office to mail anything - which maybe happens 2-3x a year.

Yeah we don't have stamps at home. If you want people to RSVP even close to on time, you should make it as easy fro the as possible by including a stamp.

I included stamps in ours just because I knew that if I didn't, my family wouldn't send them back (half of them didn't until I called anyways). I do have stamps lying around at the moment, but that is only because of having extras from our invitations. Usually, all my bills are paid online so I have very little need for stamps at home.

Include the stamp. I don't have stamps at home either.

I am thinking about not sending the RSVP cards to everyone. Some of the guest list is international and I think that could be a challenge. I plan to order about half as many RSVP's as invites, and will send them to people that I think might have trouble with a website, or older people that just might prefer to be more traditional.

I believe it is proper etiquette to stamp them and put your return address. I know my mom got an invitation once and was pissed there was no return stamp lol

Yes you include the stamp. To be honest, as a guest I wouldn't sweat it too much if someone didn't include a stamp, but personally I am to make it easier.

Please provide a stamp. My RSVP's are going to be a postcard and NO ONE has a postcard stamp at home. I would provide a 49 cent (or whatever the rate is) stamp if needed.
