Stamps from Canada to us on rsvp envelopes

Katie, on April 30, 2018 at 8:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
Hello,
I have a handful of guests, who live in Canada, I'm sending invites to for my wedding. I live in the US. I know to send Canadians letters, I need to put 3 US stamps on it. However, does anyone know how to purchase Canada to US stamps for the RSVP envelopes? I spoke with some friends and they said I'm required to purchase Canada to US postage. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Smiley smile

    You can't. I wouldn't worry about it.

The stamps would have to be Canada Post stamps for US mailing, which cost $1.20 Canadian for a 1oz standard size piece of mail. No US mail stamps are valid in Canada.

I mean, if you really want some, you could send a friend money and ask them to mail you an envelope with the correct stamps for Canada Post to the US. But you can't buy them elsewhere. Heck, I'd send you some if you paid for them but I don't know if I'm allowed to offer to help under WW terms Smiley tongue

When they came up with the commemorative hockey stamps, I got a nice Martin Brodeur envelope with a beautiful book of stamps... Shipped to New Jersey. Straight from Canada Post. So teeeeechnically you can. I just will never use the stamps as I don't live in Canada 😂 I don't know if it would work for regular stamps though.

For my international invitations, I'm replacing the regular RSVP card with something like "to RSVP please call us at this number or email us at such and such". That way, they dont have to mail something that will take months to arrive. Takes care of everyone's problems. 😊

I'm Canadian living in US and getting married here. I sent out invitation to my friends and family in Canada. US post office recommended that I use international stamps for both sending the invites and for RSVP from Canada. I have been receiving RSVPs using international stamp. BTW, you can buy the stamps from US post office. Hope this helps.

I have family in the UK and used international stamps to send their invites but didn't stamp their RSVP envelopes because they'd have to have UK international mail stamps. I also told them they could text me if mailing was too much of a hassle-- they mailed them back anyways.

I have guests from Germany who we are inviting. I had no idea what postage I needed. I just sent out my STDs, and I went to the post office to ask them what postage I needed. It cost me $1.15, and they put the postage on themselves at the post office. If you’re not sure, I’d definitely stop into your local post office to check with them. You can buy the postage there and send it out right away!

I'm planning to have an option to RSVP online, as some of my invites will be going to Mexico. From what I understand, I'll be lucky if they even get them, never mind sending them back. I may only include paper RSVP's for the older more traditional US guests and let the majority respond online.
