Spreading out traditional dances okay?

Michelle, on August 10, 2020 at 4:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 8
Does my reception timeline seem okay? Grand entrance at 7 and first dance only about 2 1/2 minutes. Dinner right after the dance..I'm going the nontraditional route and spreading out the first dance and parent dances unless there is a good reason why I shouldn't? I've heard people tend to lose interest after so many dances but some people say you don't want to wait too long. I was thinking open dancing/cake cutting go hand in hand, all the weddings I've been to usually have cake cutting happen some time during the open dancing.

6:00 p.m. Cocktails & Hors D'oeuvres

7:00 p.m. Reception Begins (Grand entrance and first dance)
7:30 p.m. Toasts and Parent Dances
8:00 p.m. Cake Cutting
8:15: p.m. Open Dancing
9:00 p.m. Bouquet Toss and Garter Toss
10:45 p.m. Sparkler Send Off
11:00 p.m. Closing

That's fine. You can do anything you like as long as you're on the same page with the dj and coordinator

Yeah I would do the dances closer to the beginning. I hate to sound like a jerk but truthfully I lose interest after the first dance and toasts so I think doing it all in the beginning before dinner and conversation would be best. Once I start eating and drinking I just wanna party. I think your timeline looks good right now. Smiley smile

That sounds good. Just make sure your parents get served first so they have time to eat.

Am I the only one who LOVES toasts/vows/parent dances? Those are the best parts of a wedding! lol I think your timeline looks great!

I would consider switching the bouquet/garter toss with the opening of the dance floor simply because it may run smoother. In the middle of everyone dancing you’re gonna ask half of them to clear the dance floor then switch to the other half,
