Spray tan?!?

Alexa, on August 15, 2017 at 2:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

My really good friend who has worked in a tanning salon for about 3 years now wants to give me a complimentary professional spray tan (airbrush) to see how I like it, and then is charging me $20 (usually more expensive) for the wedding (she said to get it done about 3 days before wedding) I have had it done by her before and it turned out awesome.

My question to y'all is, has anyone got a spray tan done before their wedding???

I'm just nervous to get it on the dress... though before I don't remember the spray tan getting on my clothes after showering and the tan setting in.

I think you're safe after you shower. Because it just stains your skin.

I got one last week to see if I wanted to do it for the wedding and she said sweating generally makes it transfer a little and she would give me tips to prevent it. And that made up my mind. I'm not going to chance it.

I haven't before a wedding but I got them a few times in high school. I went to a cheap salon (LA Tan) and got spray tans from the machine that looked great. I know a lot of people who said they got bad ones from actual technicians while others swear by getting it done by a pro and never using a machine. It can't hurt to try this far out!

You just need to follow their guidelines. Use lots of lotion at your ankles, wrists, fingers, toes, elbow, knees. When I took my first shower I would scrub any spots prone to having build up (usually your joints where it turns orange).

Get the spray tan AFTER your pedicure though! When they scrub your legs you'll be embarrassed to watch all the orange fill the tub and come off your legs...

I had a spray tan done last month just as a trial. Mine was clear so the color came on gradual and did not stain any of my clothes. I really liked the way it looked; a little bit of color without being orange. Three days before the wedding will give you plenty of time so it doesn't stain.

I just got a spray tan for our vacation, my very first one. I'm going to do it for the wedding, just take the complimentary one and see how you like it. I was DARK for the first 24hrs (didn't shower for 24 hrs) and then it started to fade away gradually. Now I'm just a normal tan shade, no streaks, and I've showered 3 times since, (just got it done Saturday). I recommend doing it three days before the wedding, you won't transfer by then. I went to the gym yesterday morning and there was a little bit of transfer on my shirt (literally like two drops) but I think it's from not washing my hair so I missed the tan around the back of my neck. I recommend it!! It looks great and you won't get it on your dress if you shower at least three times before your wedding day. Just try it out!! I'm going to get it for the bachelorette party, and def the wedding so I can be tan on our honey moon!

I think trying it now will be a good idea. Rub your arm each day with a white towel or white tee that you aren't too fond of to see when you stop transferring. That way you know when to redo it before your wedding.

I did mine a few days before my wedding. No problems at all with it.
