Spray tan

Kelsey, on April 18, 2017 at 3:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Just curious if anyone has had luck with spray tanning before the big day or if it is a terrible idea! I tried one when they first came out and looked like an oompaloompa and too scared to try again!

Try the kind where someone sprays you instead of those booths. I'd try now in case you don't like it, then you can do it again before your wedding.

It changes your look completely I get spray tanned before a physique competition and yes they create contours etc but your makeup look changes and you may not like the way your dress looks after getting one. Plus the airbrush tan, unless silicone based, comes off and could potentially ruin your dress if you are not careful.

I love spray tans because I feel better when I'm tan but too scared to get skin cancer and go tanning. However, it depends on if it's by hand or in a booth. If you have a professional doing it, you should be fine. If they know what they are doing and use professional product, you should not look orange.

Forgot to add, if you get one, I would make sure you go at least two to three days before the wedding so the top layer is completely washed off and does not rub off on your dress.

I would not do one for your wedding until you know how the type of product they use comes out on your skin so definitely trial places if you decide to go that route. Most places suggest waiting 8 hours before showering, but if you are fair skinned, like me, I shower before that so it doesn't look too dark.

Find someone who uses Norvel. It's the best out there.

Thanks for all the advice! Debating to do one or not but will check around to see what's offered and go this weekend for a test run if I decide to move forward!

I have a friend who is regularly spray and bed tanning my only opinion on this is try not to mix the two. She's starting to change funny colors and also is having issues with the color not staying correctly and patchiness.

I tried an airbrushed spray tan. This person had hundreds of wonderful reviews on theknot. I followed all of the rules about exfoliating, making sure I was moisturized, etc. There were some spots it looked ok but mostly it was patchy and my face looked way too tan - like more tan than I've ever been as a teenager when I'd lay out all of the time. Two days afterwards I woke up and my light blue sheets had orange all over where I was laying. I have heard wonderful things from so many places however...........it's not for me apparently.

Nope I wuldnt do it. I have had professional spray tans that look good but it does completely change your appearance. And there's really no way to time it just right, you don't want it rubbing off of your dress or fading in a weird way

I did one before my wedding and loved it. I did a couple tests ones before to make sure it was what I wanted. I'm very light (blonde hair, blue eyes) but I tan really well and usually have a bit of a natural tan. Some of the places suggested I get a medium tan because you would see it better. The place I really liked and ended up using for the wedding told me I should still use light if I wanted to have more of a "healthy glow" and to only use the medium if I actually wanted people to notice how tan I was. I have an extremely pale friend who spray tans all the time and uses the light one too. Hers always look super natural.

I think it's something you need to try out first and experiment with. Use a person instead of a booth. And definitely get it down a few days before to avoid any rub off

Sorry to ask another question on someone else's thread but it's tanning related...

When's a good time to start bed tanning before your wedding? I don't want to get stupid shirt/tanktop tan lines this summer that will look funky in my dress.

I would not do it! I've done many different spray tans, tanning booths and self tanners and I've had absolutely horrible experiences professional or not! I'd rather be pale as pale can be than do another self tan..especially for such a big day like my wedding! Everyone has different experiences though. my best friend/MOH competes in beauty pageants and she loves getting a fake tan and thinks it looks amazing so it really is to each their own

I love spray tans! But you need to find the coloring that works best for you, as well as the products to use before and after that help it look natural and hold up well

I get them all the time. You definitely get what you pay for with spray tans so pick someone good. Exfoliate before. Do a couple test runs and see which day after is best for you. Mine always looks best on day 2. Everyone's different because it reacts with the pH levels in your skin.

I'm definitely doing it! White dress on the beach in Florida in November, while I'll have been living in Canada. Spray tan for sure.

Get a pro to hand-spray you and do a practice run first. Also, be really clear about the degree of tan you want to be. My current place offers light, medium, dark, and "full Trump" options.
