Spray tan or tanning bed?

Kaitlyn, on August 16, 2019 at 6:34 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 31
My wedding is in 29 days!! I am still pale (I told myself I would tan all summer in the sun, but that just didn’t happen). Soo should I go for a spray tan or lay in the tanning bed before the big day?

Spray tan. Increasing your risk of skin cancer is not worth it for one day.

Don't ever go to a tanning bed. The percentage chance of you getting skin cancer goes up like 400 fold. And wrinkles. And you can get burned. Pay for a nicer spray tan.

I don't advise going to a tanning bed, but my question for both would be have you done either one before? If not, I would not advise doing it for the first time a month before your wedding. Your skin may not react well, you could break out (from both), spray tan could not be the color you want, it can streak, etc. Instead, I recommend using Jergens gradual self-tanning lotion. It is a daily lotion that gradually builds a nice color that looks natural. They have different levels so you can decide how dark you want it to get. It takes about 2 weeks of daily applications to get the desired color you want.

Spray tan. Tanning beds are so dangerous and damaging

I have to agree with the person who said that don’t a spray tan a month before your wedding may not be very smart. It may not be what you envisioned ( I’ve seen many spray tans where people look orange) and it can streak and you can have a reaction to it which may make your skin worse all together. If you haven’t done either before then I would try the tanning lotion or doing the bed once a week for the minimum amount of time. The problem with that is, you don’t always get every area of your body because of the way you are laying so you will have sun lines that may show depending on your dress. I have sun tanned in beds before and doing it a few times isn’t going give you cancer. It’s when it’s constantly and especially without the specific lotion you need for the tanning bed and eye protection that increases your risk. Maybe try spray tan in a area that you can cover to see what happens and how you like it before you do everything?

If it were me, I’d just embrace the paleness lol I’d advise against a tanning bed, as it’s too damaging on the skin. And for the spray tan, if you’re certain that you won’t end up looking orange, go that route.

I’m doing a spray tan 2 days before my wedding.
Mine is vegan and non transferring so it won’t transfer onto the dress and it is not or orange. The only bad experience I have had w orange spray tan is the mystic spray tan booth. I advise going to an actual person

I’m in the same predicament! I’ve never gotten a spray tan and I’m too afraid the color is going to come off on my dress. I’m most likely will just do a tanning booth for the 2 weeks leading up to my wedding to hide my tan lines a little.

I agree, I'd just embrace being pale. That's probably what I'm going to do and I still have a ways to go. I've been pale all my life, might as well be consistent. I'd do the Jergens lotion if I were to try anything.

I just go in the stand up beds which are a short period of time and you can cut that in half. You move around a little and no butt lines. I dont do it but a few times every couple of years but you can look tan fast. The spray tans basically need to sit for I think 2 days without washing and then every time you wash, it disappears little by little. Yes, I know that it is the worst thing for your skin but you can take precautions like sunscreen and only do it for this one occasion. I think pale looks pretty though especially if you have good skin.

Have you thought of trying a sunless tanning lotion?

Yep, I’m doing the same thing! I don’t want tan lines and I want to have a base tan that will stay for our 2 week honeymoon too. Just 6 minutes 1 or 2x a week for the next few weeks and that’s all you need.

If you're gonna do a spray tan. GO. NOW.
See how it looks. In 2 weeks see what you think.
Dont do self tanning creams. Splotch city.
While I'm not opposed to the occasional tanning bed visit, 29 days before your wedding isn't the time for it. You'll over do it and it's not worth the risk.

I'd embrace the pale but if that's not an option, spray tan. One day is not worth skin cancer

I know it's not healthy but it's so relaxing to go in a tanning bed, its just calming for me. But I understand it's not for everyone, if you want the color, I would recommend spray tanning if you can start early enough or have the time to do it. I have never done spray tan, but I have heard it's a process, like can't do things right before or after and such but I'm sure it's worth it to be safe. I'm not sure if you can after the spray tan ( like days later) follow up with the sunless tanning sprays or lotions to extend your color.

If you do fake tanner yourself, it doesn't last that long so you could practice before hand to perfect it or just to see if that is something you would want to get done before your wedding.

I do a self tanner (mousse) and it works wonders! It also helps me work on my natural tan. Theres no orange tints just brown tones which I love and then When I lay out in the sun it acts like a primer and helps me tan easier! I just did my second application for the month because I have my bachelorette weekend in a week (beach vibes) and I love it. I use LaBoom and honestly its amazing!

I really like Beauty by Earth's self tanning lotion. You can get it on Amazon in a pack with the application and exfoliating mitts. It is kinda pricey, like $40, but it works really well. I use it often and I have H apply it to me so it isn't streaky. I would try it out once or twice before your wedding though so you get the hang of it. If I want a deep color on Saturday, I'll apply it once on Tuesday and again on Thursday.
