Spray Tan & Acryllics

Sabrina, on October 20, 2020 at 11:13 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

Hi Ladies!!

I am planning on getting my first ever spray tan for my wedding. I've looked at all of the tips and feel confident about it.

I wear acrylic nails pretty constantly and will be getting a fill around the same time as my spray tan.

My question is do I get my spray tan first or get my fill first? And how much time should I leave in between the two??

Nails first!! It doesn't matter how much time before, just make sure it's before. When your spray tan is on, you want to avoid soaking/nail polish remover/oils/lotions on your skin so much better to do it before your tan. Don't worry about spray tan getting on your nails, it will wipe right off.

Other tips if this is your first spray tan: follow the proper maintenance for it - it's a little annoying but definitely makes your tan last a lot longer/stay even. Before your tan, exfoliate and shave with a disposable razor (no moisture strip). Go in totally clean and dry, no lotions. When you rinse after the recommended amount of time, keep it cool and brief. Only use Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer after your tan - no bar soap!

Great advice! I might also recommend getting a practice spray before the big day, if you have the time and the funds to do it (some places even let you try your first spray free). You’ve probably already learned this doing your research, but spray tans can be a little intense when they first develop, so you might find that you want a day or two to let it mellow into a more natural glow, depending on the look you’re going for. A tester would give you a nice idea of when the best day to have it done before your wedding will be, and what shade you want to go with. I have dry skin, so even if I’m slathering on creams day and night beforehand, my skin soaks up the solution and I tend to develop darker than my friends who are naturally oilier. I’m sure you’ll have a great result, but I would personally hate to learn the color wasn’t quite right or I that didn’t love the way it looked on me on such an important, highly-photographed day.
