Sports "Theme"

kbrands, on December 16, 2017 at 6:44 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

While we don't want a sports themed wedding, we would love to incorporate our love for certain sports teams into our big day. We don't want it to be over the top but just a little something to make it a little more fun. Let me see some pictures or hear about things you did to incorporate sports into your wedding theme!

We have already taken save the date pictures with hockey shirts and a puck with our date written on it.

My FH also love sports. We are thinking of doing the "throw the football with the garter" on it idea as the garter toss.

I think there was someone on here who had the bridal party hold up hockey sticks making an arch and the couple walked in to the reception under them?

I think we're going to have our bridal party do the "tunnel" when we walk into the reception like you do for big games. We met in college when we were both athletes and now both coach in college

My parents went to a wedding where the couple loved baseball. They had escort cards that looked like game tickets which was a nice touch.

We're doing our engagement pictures today and we'll hopefully be able to use some on save the dates. One of our outfits is our favorite hockey team jerseys with FH last name on the back and I painted or initials and our date on a puck. I'm also going to wear a garter from the same hockey team. We're hoping to have the mascot make an appearance toward the end of the reception if there's not a game that night.

Not my idea. But I attended a wedding where the groom was a big Rangers fan. Their guestbook was a rangers jersey. Table numbers were frames with mini jerseys. Im not a big sports fan but I thought this was pretty cool.

We did different centerpieces on each table based on our travels and interests. One of ours was our favorite basketball team - the rockets.

You could always do fun socks for the boys with logos of their/your favorite teams!

My sister loves sports. For their guest book they got a baby blue baseball jersey with her maiden name and a white jersey with their married name. The sign said some cute like "help retire the old, or cheer for the new ". They framed the signed jerseys in shadow boxes and hung them in their basement with all their other sport memorabilia

We’ll be incorporated baseball into our programs. We did a “team bride” and “team groom” line up and listed our BP. We did managers as parents and general managers as grandparents. We also did a “Hall of Fame” for those that have passed and wrote a little paragraph about how excited we are to start the “major leagues” of our lives together and we’ll see them “after the game”.

Incorporating into our table numbers. Each number card is going to have a fun fact about a player who wore that # on 1 of our favorite teams

I saw at a wedding the groom had a lot of groomsmen so they had a banner with their new last name and played the NFL theme for the intro and announced the starting lineup (all the groomsmen) and they rushed the banner and onto the dance floor. Really cool and beat the traditional walk in. I'm doing an ice sculpture of the classic ny Yankee logo with an ice luge built in

I like the idea of naming tables (instead of numbers) with sports arenas, team names, player names, etc. You wouldn't necessarily have to decorate the tables as such, but it would be a fun way to at least tie in the love of sports.

We used vintage tennis racquets in our sweetheart table decor. Then Pom poms for our send off which was a hit and our guest really got in to it, due to the college rivalry in this area.

My family would be all over this! Since I picked a favor that's mostly for my friends not family, I might grab a stack of chocolate pucks too...

This sounds so awesome and I really love the fact that you guys are incorporating more than just the bridal party in the theme.

We are Florida State fans, so the groomsmen will walk down the isle to the instrumental version of “Seminole Wind.”
