Spiral Seating

Nicole, on June 20, 2017 at 9:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

We are having a beach wedding with 40-50 guests and considering a spiral seating for the ceremony. Looking for pros/cons from people who have done a similar set up. Also, how did you do the seating chart to ensure parents were up front? Thanks for any input ladies!

I have no experience with this but I think pictures like this always look super pretty!

The pictures look really cool and I like the idea of being surrounded, but I would think a major con would be that half the guests would be seeing your backs the entire time and may have trouble hearing.

I was also thinking of doing spiral, but was wondering about the actual logistics of it! following, in case anyone has done it.

I think it looks pretty, but as an officiant, I don't really love having people behind us.

It looks really pretty and I thought about doing that for our wedding. But, we decided not to. Half of the guests would be looking at the officiant back the whole time. And I couldn't picture where the bridal party would stand so they aren't in the way of anyone's view. And, the more I thought about it, I think it would be a little awkward to have the whole wedding party walk right in front of every one to get to the middle of the spiral.

Very pretty, but not very practical Smiley sad

I've been to one wedding that did circular seating - the chuppah was in the middle and there were chairs on all four sides. It was the first time that the venue had tried this seating set-up and it just didn't really work out. Right off the bat - half of your guests will see your backs, not your faces. Also, they had the wedding party line up on either side of the bride and groom like they would traditionally, but that became a literal wall of bodies ensuring that half of the guests could not see a thing the entire ceremony.

We aren't having a wedding party, just 2 flower girls and 2 ring bearers who will sit with our parents once we get up there, so that aspect won't be an issue. But I didn't think about the guests only facing our backs. Thank you!

We're doing a half moon shape - something different, but still allows everyone to see you!

Maybe the half moon shape like @C&N mentioned?
