We're going on a 5-day cruise to the Bahamas for $825. We've budgeted $500 for drinks and excursions.

5 Nights in St. Lucia at Sugar Beach Viceroy Resort. We let our friend, who is a travel agent book it for us because she got free airport transportation and a few other little perks in her package that I couldn't get on Expedia on my own. But it was way under 3500!

@Heather W. I also get motion sick going around the corner in a car. Flying (and driving myself) is the only thing I can do without getting sick.

I went through the Drake passage on a smaller boat (maybe 75 passengers) to get from Ushuaia to get to Antarctica with my mom. The way down with just the transdermscope (patch) was awful (2 days straight in bed - could NOT make the past the salad course). But a fellow passenger who was a doctor advised me that I could take meclizine (for nausea) and the patch (for inner ear) at the same time, and the trip back up was MUCH better.

So you can use them both at the same time, in case you didn't know.

Groupon! I've gone one two groupon vacations, Ireland and Puerto Vallarta. Nothing but good things to say. Love that the flights, hotels and car rentals were all covered in one lump sum. We paid about $1,000-1400 pp. Note: some of them are offered in the country's "off season". We went to Ireland in November and it rained but we went prepared. Just do your research beforehand.

We did a Delta vacation package to Punta Cana for $2600 that included flights, all inclusive resort stay, and shuttles. The only thing we had to cover were tips and if we wanted to go on any excursions. We only did five days, but the tail end of it was Thanksgiving weekend so we cut it a little shorter than we wanted to to avoid higher travel expenses.

Depends where you are in the US and when you want to go. If you're open to a winter honeymoon and on the east coast, a week in Europe could be doable.

We're doing a 1 week ski honeymoon in CO. (because we don't live on the East Coast, so airfare to Europe alone would be $2500)

Instead we're spending about 3k for 9 days at a private chalet with outdoor hot tub and roaring fireplaces (airbnb), 3 days of skiing, plus snowmobiling and dogsledding tours. If we were just going to veg in the cabin with some hiking and snowshoeing we could do it for 2k or less.

    Thanks everyone.

@Mrs.T-to-be. Thanks. I actually knew that. My motion sickness is caused by a deformity in my inner ear so I get it really bad. I try not to get on a boat if I don't have to.

I'll definitely check those sites you guys listed. Unfortunately, we are going on our honeymoon in the summer so it seems to be a bit more expensive. We are also in Texas, so Europe and Hawaii aren't very convenient or cost effective. I'll keep searching. I know that I can find something.

I'm going to Costa Rica for 8 nights and 10 days from CA for $2900. It can be done!

ETA - just saw your summer comment too - summer is technically the "rainy season" in Costa Rica so things are cheaper. We are going next month, which is the start of the season. Saved us about $1000 for that reason alone!

ETA #2 - There are direct flights from Texas too! Have I sold you on Costa Rica yet? Lol

Heather, I would definitely check out the motion sickness patches. I suffer from it too, and I've been on a number of cruises.

Left to my own devices, I'd rent an RV and go cross country.

$3500 is a HUGE budget for honeymoon. (Okay maybe that crosses out Thailand or Italy), but there are plenty of places you can go for less than that!!

We went to Puerto Vallarta, stayed at an all inclusive 5 start resort for LESS than $2000!! including airfare too! We used Costco Vacations. It was fabulous!

I guess I'm having trouble also because we agreed not to go anywhere on the Zika Travel Advisory list.

Costco travel! Flight, hotel, and rental car for less than $2500 for a week in Maui. We did a Honeyfund for excursions and activities.

I know...many are not a fan of Honeyfund but it works for us since we already live together. Plus, we don't have any of the major expenses on the registry so it's not like I'm asking anyone to pay for our honeymoon.

We are going to kauai....renting a condo at a resort for about 720 dollars total for a week Smiley smile It's a 4 star resort. Flights were 1500 with all the taxes, and we are paying 200 dollars for a rental car for a week! So it's definitely doable!

We went through gotoday.com but used one of their travel agents to customize/get the best price. We only paid 3700 for direct flights to and from Paris and accommodations for 4 full days in paris and 4 full days in nice. Go on their site and check out their packages. They have a lot of different options at different price points. If you interested I can give you thr contact information of the agent we used.

FH and I visited Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Tennessee area this past spring and it's absolutely beautiful! You could easily spend an entire week there in a private cabin in the mountains for that budget. There is so much to do and see! There is the Smokie Mountains with trails, wildlife, waterfalls, etc. Whitewater rafting, ATVing, and ziplining. There are a lot of museums and tons of amusement attractions.
