Spinning engagement ring!

Private User, on March 10, 2015 at 12:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Hey ladies,

My engagement ring has been resized smaller once already and it still keeps spinning. I also constantly slip it on and off when I'm bored or anxious, and I'm scared I'm either going to lose it, or make it lose its shape. I literally do it constantly. The place I took it to get sized already said that I should wait until the weather is warmer to see if it fits better, and if not I can go down again. The band is very narrow with just the oval diamond which makes it top heavy. Anything I can do in the mean time to stop the spinning, or what? It drives me crazy, and I'm super scared I'll lose it or it'll slip off somehow. Smiley sad I attached a pic so you can kinda see it and maybe that will help with suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

My e-ring is very top heavy too. In warm weather it fits perfectly, doesn't slip up over my knuckle. Even then, it still spins around. I've just gotten over it lol.

Its pretty common as your fingers swell and then go back down. You'll notice as your fingers swell and go back down due to water weight, salt intake and warm weather when it will and wont happen. Mine doesnt get tight during the summer but stays put more during the summer months as the heat and humidity factor into the swelling of your fingers.

ETA: you can find plastic or rubber spacers (I think thats what they are called) at Claire's or Charming Charlies that can slip over the backside of the ring

Google Ring Guard...Problem solved Smiley smile Ring guards can also be applied to the ring after the knuckle so they don't spin, are easily removable and easy to attach without damaging the ring.

I don't remember what they are called, but there are little balls you can get attached to the inside of the band as an alternative to resizing. This is easier on the metal and gives you a little bit of wiggle room in case your finger swells.

Mine spins around my finger too, but if I were to get it sized smaller, it wouldn't fit over my knuckle. The bone around your knuckle is bigger than the bone where the ring normally falls. So it's bound to feel loose at times. Just wait until the summer to see how it feels.

I know plenty of people at work who's rings feel a lot bigger, but theirs no way it's falling off (co-worker shook his hand around and his ring didn't budget). So as long as it's not flying off on it's own, it should be fine.

My ring must be top heavy too. It make me nervous because It spins around all the dang time. It's insured so that give me some peace of mind. I tried the noodles from Claire and I had a ring guard too. But after a while, they either broke or were too uncomfortable.

My ring is definitely top heavy & spins. I'm like you & play with it often. I've had it less than a month tho so I'm sure I'll get more used to it. I have noticed depending on the temp the looseness varies. If I'm inside it's less loose. I do like to be able to turn it. Living near NYC, I'm on the subway often. When I'm on it I've made it a habbit to turn the stone towards my palm (and I've noticed LOTS of women do this). I think with the change of weather wait & see if it helps.

You can get what are called "Arthritis beads" added. They're little metal beads on the underside that allow the ring over your knuckles but keep it from spinning. I have them and they were not expensive and work well.

That said, you should still wait til summer to see how it fits in the heat so you don't get it too small. The beads can take it down about half a size I think. I had it done at Helzberg and they did great (my ring was not from there).

They make little spacers you can buy to put on the ring for when it's volder out, so it will fit tighter. That might be an option!

Really it just looks too big on your finger. Sometimes if you have large knuckles then you have no choice to have a slightly bigger ring. I also have a ring with a thin band with oval diamond and I made it so it is almost too tight when my hands swell in heat and it's perfect in colder weather or when I'm well hydrated. From the picture though, you could stand to go down in size.

I was in between sizes and this is what i got on mine. They said if we sized it down it wouldnt go over my knuckles. Also, they said if for some reason i need them removed they can file them down. I think this is what the other girls are saying above ^^^

I would really like to know what you ended up doing about your ring spinning around?

I think the best solution is this ForeverFit ring shank, especially after reading all these "solutions" and the complaints about them. I know it's been awhile but would love
