My husband and I got married last October with just our parents, and are having a more formal event this October to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. It will be similar to a wedding reception with a cocktail hour, then dinner, dessert (with cake cutting), and dancing afterwards.
We were going to skip out on the speeches, but I still wanted to maybe make a small speech toward the end of cocktail hour to personally thank people for coming and then segway into dinner. Is this a good idea? What is an example of something I could say? I am not that good talking infront of people. I don't want it to be too short and akward, but I don't want it to be drawn out.
Also, any suggestions on when we should have a 'first dance.' Should we do it during cocktail hour or after dessert?
