Specific Assigned Seats?

Our venue supplies rectangle farm tables, and we are going to connect them all family-style. We designed our seating chart by placing people in specific seats, in order to best blend family/friend groups.
Is it a bad idea to give people specific seats, not just specific tables? I don’t want anyone to be offended, but we spent a long time planning out our chart and it’s pretty precise.

    We had three long farmhouse tables, and assigned specific seats.

    We also had long tables connected to each other and had to assign seats for the purpose you mentioned. This is common and shouldn't offend people. We directed the guest to the table using personalized ornaments that served as one of their favors and then had place cards at each person's seat.

    Thanks, and you're welcome. No, the tables only sat 4 on each side (8 per table) and each table had a number so it was easy to figure out. I also had a small wedding of 40 guests so even if there had been trouble there were only 6 total tables to sit at.
