Sparklers

GoldenQueen, on February 27, 2017 at 6:02 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

I knew from when we started planning our wedding that I wanted sparklers, not to send us off after the reception, but to use during our first dance. I envision the guests standing around the dance floor with the sparklers and I've seen some dope pics online but now I can't find them... Smiley sad please share your thoughts and ideas. Greatly appreciated.

Are you having an outdoor reception? Sparklers indoors would be a no go for a lot of venues.

Figure out lighting in advance. If you have two people that smoke, it's going to be impossible to light 100 sparklers all at once.

Also, keep in mind they don't last as long as a song, so for the last two minutes or so of your first dance, you're going to have people standing around with those grey ashy sticks that sparklers turn into. Not sure if there's any way around that.

    Thank you both!

@JerseyGirl my reception will be indoor so you're right I should check with the venue....

@Delfina you made a great point about them not lasting long enough and the guests holding grey sticks. I have more research to do!

I would also think about the amount of smoke that will be in the air after the sparklers are done. I'm pretty sure though that your venue won't allow you to do the sparklers inside. My venue told us that "technically" we can't do a sparkler send off, due to the fire marshal rules.

Most likely, you won't be able to use sparklers inside your venue. If you're allowed to use them outside, make sure to get sparklers meant for photography (fourth of July sparklers are too smokey, do not burn long enough, and are not safe enough). I ordered mine from http://weddingsparklersdirect.com/

Even with my venue (half of it is open to the outside with no roof) they won't let me do sparklers because they said it has damaged the dance floor before. So definitely check with the venue.

I think that would be a creative idea. I just googled it. Beautiful if the venue allows.
