Sparklers or Sky Lanterns to be shipped to St. Lucia or bought there?

Altena, on May 25, 2017 at 11:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hi there!

I'm getting married in June in St. Lucia. I've noticed many couples using sparklers during their weddings. I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to get sparklers there. My resort does not have any and it is hard to find any that ship there. I found one place that might ship there but I saw no one would deliver these "explosives" there. Also, interested in sky lanterns as well, can I bring these on the plane or should they be shipped to the resort? If you have any ideas of where to order or buy sparklers on St Lucia, please let me know. Thank you very much!

I would contact a fireworks company and see if they can refer you to someone. Or, perhaps they can order them and sell them to you as they are familiar with import and shipping regulations,

Failing that, search for party supply stores

Sky lanterns kill birds and fish and wildlife and can cause fires.

Thank you for your help! So even if the lanterns are biodegradable, it's not really helping at all? I will reach out to that company. Thank you!

You should also check with the venue, some don't allow it

Besides all the other good advice, those lanterns are a painola to send off. Like major.

Trust me I care about the environment! That's why I was looking into 100% biodegradable it's. The venue told me to bring sparklers and I said I can't travel with them. They said sparklers are okay and 100% biodegradable lanterns. Thank you!

Nothing like sending fire through the sky ....

My sister went to a backyard wedding, with sky lanterns. One crashed and burned, in a neighbor's flowerbed and the fire company was called. The police accompanied them and the wedding was shut-down pretty quickly.

Biodegradable lanterns are still bad for the environment

I had my heart set on sky lanterns for my wedding. Got it cleared with the venue, was going to get biodegradable lanterns but then did more research and realized how dangerous and what a PITA they are. They are very large and not always easy to set up and light, often get a lot of "duds" and just not worth the risk.

I would check with your venue and see if they can recommend a local fireworks supply company to get sparklers.

I would ask the venue if you could purchase sparklers online and ship them to their location! If the sparklers are addressed to you, but c/o the venue (or coordinator) maybe they could store them until you arrive?
