Sparkler Send Off Worth it?

Christy, on April 9, 2018 at 9:00 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

So I've posted before about finding out my venue needs insurance provided in order to use sparklers for our send off at the reception. We pretty much have been guided to one and only insurance carrier that will provide what is needed. Only issue is it's $460!!

My future SIL had sparklers at hers and FH said it made for GREAT photos. While I'm a part time photographer myself I know how valuable pictures are. BUT for the few moments that it will take to light these things up and have us walk through....is it really worth that much money?

Thoughts?

I personally don’t really understand the staged send off thing, but it’s all a matter of what’s a priority for you and FH. Are you actually leaving during the send off, and is that when the party ends?

Nope, it is not. And as a guest it is annoying when I’m drunk and tired.

Girl no. Save that money for your honeymoon. Pictures are important but the ones that you'll really appreciate aren't the ones that are planned out.

Yea, so it would be when the reception comes to an end and we "leave" the reception. We are staying onsite in the bridal suite so really "leaving" only to our room but it is our send off.

Its hard to justify almost $500 though. Plus the extra money we are paying the photographer for the extra couple hours for coverage to shoot it.

We plan on doing one, but are really only paying the price of the sparklers, so I think that’s fine- but an extra $500.... I would opt out of it if I saw that number!!

I really debated a sparkler send off. As much as I love those photos I decided it would be easier to do a "ceremony send off" and have people toss confetti/flower petals. Still makes for cute and fun pictures without disrupting the evening or us having to add additional hours in for photography. Maybe you could go a different route and do a confetti, petal, bubble, etc exit as you leave the ceremony?
