Sparkler Send-Off but Bride & Groom Aren't leaving

Danielle, on July 29, 2015 at 12:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

We are interested in doing a sparkler send-off at our wedding, however, it wouldn't technically be considered a "sparkler send-off" as we aren't leaving... We want to do it around 830pm as the sun sets at 730pm that day, and because the photographer will still be there, however, not sure what to call it? We were possibly just going to get the wedding party together instead of the entire wedding, however, curious what other people have done for this?

We considered doing a "Sparkler Salute" where we wouldn't leave right then and we'd have done it primarily just for pictures. But then we changed it back to a Sparkler Send-Off and left right afterwards.

I've actually never been part of a sparkler exit...but it seems a little extreme to make all our guests go outside just to get some pictures. Mostly because my guess is it takes a lot of time to execute getting all the sparklers lit and guests in their spots. I like the idea of just using the wedding party, that way your guests are still free to dance and mingle!

You could call it a Photo Op. Or just do it when you actually leave. This would be a little weird and annoying as a guest. Just do it with the bridal party.

I've been to several weddings where the couple has done a "fake exit" with the sparklers. The photos were beautiful, but it took a while (a good 10-15 minutes) to get everyone organized, get them lighted, etc. and it interrupted the party right when it was really getting going. We are weighing the pros and cons because our photographer is scheduled to leave 30 minutes before the party ends and we are limited on actual partying time as it is. I think doing it with just the bridal party is a great idea, especially if you have a large guest list.
