SPANX??? What's best for shaving inches off?

Cassie, on January 2, 2015 at 9:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Hello ladies!

I have heard so many raves about shapewear, and (since my measurements are NOT what they were 2 years ago), I am looking to jump on the bandwagon! My main concern would be shrinking inches off (I'm not super lumpy as is, just want to be able to fit into a smaller size dress). What did/do you plan to use shapewear for the wedding and how many inches (if you know) did it shave off different areas? My biggest problem area is my booty. Thanks!

Shape wear definitely did NOT help me get into a smaller size dress. Running helped me get into a smaller size. BUT it does make for comfy underwear underneath the dress. I think it just makes my lines look a little more fluid and a little closer. I recommend going to target and trying on several pairs of spanx and then go to a nice bra store (I am anti victorias secret) - they will also have shapers.

I used spanx - not to get me into a smaller size, but to smooth me out.

I love actual spanx brand everything. Knock offs will never be the same.

I plan to diet/exercise in addition to spanx! Starting weight watchers and Jillian Michael's 30 day shred in a week. Just wondering if spanx could give me any extra help. Smiley smile

Like Erica said, the will help smooth you out and make it a little hard to breath and relax in the process lol but not make you smaller.

Be careful with the 30 day shred if you aren't used to stuff like that. I hurt myself pretty bad a couple years ago when I tried it because I'd never done anything like that before

Why start in a week? Decide you want to do it and get started, setting future dates or having reasons(excuses) right off the bat will just lead to more reasons(excuses) not to follow through.

Spanx doesn't shave anything, it may help you feel better but it doesnt make the dramatic difference like they want you to think.

@Monana, yes, generally speaking, I agree. However, I am going to be staying at a hotel for the next week, and will therefore, be unable to cook. I want to start WW with access to home-cooked, healthy food so I don't get discouraged and quit! lol.

Thanks, @Megan, I've done stuff like this before, but will make sure to be careful until I get the hang of it!

Spanx are not meant to make your body smaller, just to smooth you out.

The gym?? Haha. Sorry but the only way to lose inches and dress sizes is to actually lose weight by diet and exercise. Shapewear just smooths you out.

Thanks, guys! Yea, I plan to start jogging/running in the hotel! Want to build up at least some endurance before I jump into 30 day shred (no exercising has occurred over the holidays), lol.

I used spanx. It just helped flatten things out, it didn't bring me down a size or anything like that though. they were pretty comfy. I got them at dress barn.

Spanx or any other shaping garments will not make you smaller - but likely exercise will not either (I am a runner and have man calves, go figure). The only way to SAFELY drop a dress size is to go on a simple diet. Cut 500 calories out of your diet a day - that is the equivalent of a bagel with cream cheese and a Kit-Kat bar. I would not recommend doing the 14 day cleanse where you drink a juice daily and eat no food. A girl I work with did a cleanse 12 days before her wedding and lost 14 pounds - 14 pounds of water weight (more than likely) and she felt like death on her wedding day. Her gown also did not fit and you can see her bra in almost all her photos. She gained it ALL back within two days on their honeymoon.
