Spanx question ☺️

Lori, on May 25, 2019 at 2:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Hi! I’m 51 and getting married in November. Before deciding on my dress, I got a nice spanx undergarment. It is a strapless bra and goes all the way down like bike shorts. It is hard to get on but surprisingly comfy. I have it mostly to provide a smooth underlayer.

My question is — is it normal to sweat in shapewear? LOL I was trying a bunch of dresses today, so I was in and out of dresses and it is hot out today but I have a/c on in the house. Do I need to get a different one that has ventilation? Or maybe I need to just wear a strapless bra and undies to avoid being a sweaty mess?

Here is my dress. Please ignore my undone hair and no makeup!

Many of them don't breathe. So I'd say it's not abnormal.
I didnt wear any sort of shapewear to my shopping, an I was absolutely drenched.

Thanks! Do you plan to wear shapewear for your wedding?

I haven't worn them in awhile, but from what I remember I was quite sweaty in I wore them.

It's very normal to sweat in shapewear-- the things we do for fashion haha! If it bothers you, you could definitely get a ventilated set
You look gorgeous by the way! I would have never guessed that's what you consider undone hair if you didn't mention it!

It depends how thick it is. I have a spanx that is so thin and I love wearing it. I also have a thicker one that is harder to get on and I definitely sweat in that one. I’d go with one that is a lighter material. They usually provide a bit less “support”, but are more comfy and airy in my opinion.

It's normal, but you work up more of a sweat trying on clothes than you will at the wedding, unless you're really getting down on the dance floor. If your wedding is outside in the summer, I'd look for a ventilated set, but otherwise you're probably fine.

I have found this to be totally normal. I sweat especially getting in and out of them. And then if its warm out or I'm wearing a few layers on top of them I'll definitely sweat.

I was sweating trying on dresses and I didn't even have any shapewear on! It doesn't seem like it but it's hard work!

Any time you add layers you are going to be a little warmer, but I don't think it'll make a big difference when you only have to put 1 dress on once.

You look gorgeous! I would just try on the dress without the shapewear and see if it still looks like you want it.
