Spanx Advice!

Candy, on October 26, 2017 at 5:55 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

So I decided not to diet or heavily work out before the wedding. I just sweets just too much to say no!

Anyways, I met with my seamstress on Monday and she suggested this new line of spanx to flatten my tummy and hide my belly button.

One I tried it on with my dress, I feel like it makes me look like I'm pregnant?!

Am I crazy or is anyone else seeing this?

Or is the dress too tight/my tummy's too big?

Ps, I'm really not pregnant

Hard to tell with that angle.. but I think you look great!!

ETA : is your wedding next year? I thought it was coming up soon... I think you have plenty of time to address any body issues you have not that I think you need too!

I can see what you're talking about but seriously wouldn't have even noticed had you not asked specifically to look for it. Also, it definitely doesn't make you look pregnant!

I don't want to look like a stuffed sausage! So crunches, here I come!

Or a different pair of spanx?

I think you look great (and not at all pregnant), but be sure you can sit comfortably in your dress. A post from a few months ago is burned in my mind from a bride who didn't realize until she got dressed on her wedding day that she literally could not sit down in her dress and ended up having to do a weird lean all day.... Smiley sad

Where does it land on your waist? It may need to be a different cut on your Spanx... ETA: Hit enter too soon... I understand what you're seeing, but you don't look pregnant

Can you take a pic where you arms aren't in front of your body, and also one from the side? It looks fine to me (most dresses with that shape tend to have a little belly bulge. It's just the natural curve of the belly, not fat necessarily). The dress may be too tight though, if it is runching up near the tops of your thighs

You definitely don't look pregnant! but as a bridal consultant, the dress is a tad too snug in the midsection. That's why your getting that wrinkle/bunching right under your waist. Honestly, I would try the dress on without the spanx. The spanx will make the dress tighter then it actually is because your adding extra material under it

I don't think you look pregnant. Is it comfortable though?

This is without the spanx. More fabric in the mid section where I can actually pull on it. My alterations woman recommended this specific style of spanx to flatten the fabric and my stomach of course.

    Both ways are extremely comfortable.

Not sure if a different style of spanx would be a better fit though.

I think it looks great either way. I'm also not actively trying to lose weight for the wedding too. I like me the way I am. Smiley smile

I think it looks much better without spanx. The pooch is non existent in the most recent pic. In the first one it's pretty noticeable.

I like it without the spankx! I think oddly enough, with it, it kind of seems a tad bit tight.

The belt looks awesome. You look great either way so I'd say go with what's most comfortable! And if you can look into a different brand of Spanx? Although thats what I wore and they were awesome I forgot I had any on!

Looks better without honestly, but you have a great shape so I wouldn't stress it.

You've gotta go with whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.

Don't let sales people talk you into anything, or out if anything. Trust yourself. Do what will make you and your partner happy.

I'd ideally like to wear spanx because it'll keep me cool and I won't have to worry about the dreaded "chub rub" destroying my thighs.

If it flattens my tummy a little bit, win win!!

@candy I think it looks better without the spanx honestly. It looks like the dress fabric is pulling funny with them on. maybe try a slimmer with a silky/slinky-er (not a word?) fabric so that the dress doesn't catch on it if you'd feel more comfortable with something under the dress..
