Hi I'm actually going through the same situation, and reading the comments have been helpful. I wasn't raised to follow the Spanish traditions, and my fiancé was. My FMIL said that since we asked his aunt and uncle to be padrinos de iglesia that they should be next to us at the altar, and well I should of done my research first. What I was thinking was having the MOH and BM next to us, and having the padrinos go up to light the unity candle with us. Not sure if that's a good idea, but it was something I thought might help.
