Spain Honeymoon!

Kat0728, on February 12, 2016 at 11:13 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

Hi all,

We are starting to plan our honeymoon Smiley smile and our travel agent has suggested a two options and I wanted to get some opinions on where to go in Spain. One of the options she gave us was to fly to Barcelona and go to the Costa Brava region and the other was to do Barcelona and go up to the Basque region. Our trip will be 10 days long and we are hoping to stay in Barcelona for a few nights and then travel by rental car to the other locations while spending a night or two along the way.

Any insights on which is better for a honeymoon???

I think the Basque region is more romantic. I studied abroad in Valencia (3hrs south of Barcelona) and while fantastic and loads of fun, that coast of Spain tends to be the "Jersey Shore" of Europe. I think you'll get more culture and scenery in the Basque region. The Costa Brava beaches are nothing to write home about. That said, you'll have a great time with either itinerary Smiley smile

Although I haven't been to either the Costa Brava region or the Basque region, so I can't really help with answering your question, I've been to Barcelona twice (we actually got engaged there!) and it's an amazing city! Lots of cool and romantic sights! I'm sure it will be a great honeymoon and wish you the best!

Costa Brava will be packed with sunburned Brits. Basque country is much more romantic. Or if you have a car and want a beach day, hop over the border to S France! Collioure is a French family holiday destination, so not too touristy, but great views.

I love love love Barcelona! Parc Guell is magical just before sunset, and the Barri Gothic is soooo charming. Just hang onto your purse and don't flash money around or stop for street artists. The street thieves there are total pros.

You need to see the la familia church while

    In Barcelona.

I went to the costa del mar while in Barcelona and it was fun but busy!

I've been to Barcelona and Andulucia (it's the southern region of Spain). I'm sure that you will enjoy Barcelona anyway!!! A second Kelsey, La Familia is a must-see.

Following! We're headed to Spain too - a couple of days in Madrid, short jaunt down to the south then finishing up in Barcelona. I can't wait!

I studied abroad in Barcelona and loved it! Check out the local cava bars--there is one close to the beach that is fantastic! Parc Guell, Monteserrat, La Sagrada Familia are all beautiful sights. the Barrio Gotica is a wonderful area-beautiful church there I would walk to all the time!

There is quite the bar scene if you both are interested in that as well!

We are going to Spain. Starting in Madrid, Seville, day trip to Tangier’s, Ronda, Barcelona. The train is cheap way to get around and fast. There is also Ryan air which is cheap and quick way to get across the country.
