Southern Outdoor Weddings in July, 150 guests

TheWadeIsOver, on October 2, 2013 at 12:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hello, I'm Jay. I am new to the site and I was referred here by my future MIL. I will be getting married in Alabama in July 2014. Brides who married outside or plan to, when is the best time of the day for an outdoor wedding? considering summer weather, photography, etc.

The location is set and we have the color scheme, but that's about it. The dress cost is covered. Is it possible to have 150 guests and spend $5000 or less? We have semi-large families and church family who have influenced our lives who we appreciate and don't want to count out.

The good thing about Alabama is that costs aren't particularly high there.

I am assuming that your outdoor space isn't taking out too much of your budget...

So it's basically going to be food, rentals, and flowers that will eat up most of the money.

I think you can do it for 5k.

I have been in Alabama in the summer time and it is hot as balls. I would suggest that you have an evening wedding for the comfort of your guests. If you do it in the evening you might be able to manage only having to rent one tent for the reception. This could save some money.

    Good luck!

My wedding will be in July and because of the heat we are having it in the evening. I don't want my guests feeling too hot and I don't want to be sweating in my wedding gown. As for photography, most professional photographers have equipment for evening weddings.

Woah! I'm in SC and outside in July is HOT. (our city is nicknamed "famously hot"). Maybe a late morning/early afternoon ceremony with a brunch reception. Good for the heat and a great way to save money!

It's possible. I had 200 and spent less than $5000. A lot of mine was DIY. My biggest expense was catering.

For time, July is usually humid. I'd go towards evening so it's not sticky hot.

July before last I attended an outdoor wedding in Indiana and it was miserable, 95 and super humid, even in the evening. Her cupcakes were melting, and a lot of people left early.

If you really want to do it outside, I'd do it really early in the day (and I'm NOT a morning person so it takes a lot for me to suggest this!)
