sos wrong bridesmaid's dress

Tiffany, on July 27, 2018 at 7:41 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
Ok, so big issue. My wedding is September 22. Today my MoH received the wrong dress from David's Bridal, she had it shipped to her house. She's freaking out because they have a no returns policy. The business office was closed so we will know more tomorrow. We don't know if they ordered the wrong dress or if they shipped the wrong dress on accident. The dress she got was one she tried on but not the one she chose. Has anyone had a similar issue? The others got their dresses just fine.

Shes a bigger girl and shall we just say, very top heavy so she has a really hard time finding clothes that fit. They had to order the dress and it was the only one she could comfortably fit into. We are worried that even if they make it right it may not be in time. Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas? She hates the dress they sent (and I agree, its awful) and its incredibly uncomfortable for her. We have had thoughts about modifying a short dress that fits and happens to be the right color, possibly modifying the one she received, even though the material is wrong, and trying to find matching fabric and having a friend who can see make one. Anything we haven't considered?

I know it's easy to say, but stop freaking out. There's no need to until you talk with someone who can figure out what happened. If it's David's mistake, they'll send the right dress in plenty of time for the wedding.

Most likely if they are in the wrong, they'll ship the correct dress. You may have to ask that they expedite/overnight the shipment. They should also supply the return label for the incorrect dress. Provided that their wrong. She should ensure she has the original invoice to compare and support her claim. I would go into the local store if there's one.

I would think they would correct this because they messed up. I would wait until they're open to go up to the store you went too and just say hey yall shipped me the wrong dress and I want the right one

I went with DB bridesmaid dresses. My MOH picked a certain size based on their recommendations, and they told us that they would take the dress back if it didn't work out. They do allow returns. If you bought it online then you have to go through the online process to return it. If you bought it in the store then you can return in store. They didn't make a custom dress for your MOH...they just shipped it from a warehouse so it can easily go back to said warehouse. Smiley winking

Don't fret! I'd discuss with the manager in the morning and see what your options are. You should still have time to get the right dress with time for some quick alterations if needed.

Thanks for the help. It's just all kinds of stress right now.

They have to allow returns if they made a mistake. The no returns policy does apply here. My bridesmaids got their dresses from DB in about a month (although I know it varies based upon the type of dress), so she should be able to get the new one in time. But you need to make sure to ask DB to expedite it to make sure it gets here in time, since they made a mistake.

Take a deep breath and see what can be resolved when they open tomorrow. Definitely mention many times how quickly your wedding is approaching and very much need the dress she actually did order.

They let me exchange a MOB dress that I purchased in store and had shipped to my house. It wasn’t even a mistake, just dress regret. It will be okay, truly it will.

Thanks everyone. The main concern is that it's considered a "special order" because of the size. I appreciate the help, definitely feeling better about it.

The SAME exact thing happened to my MOH. I was beyond pissed as my wedding is September 2nd and they told me it could come in on August 27th. I ended up calling her David’s bridal as well as mine and said it needed to be resolved. They ended up taking back the dress they delivered and even exchanged it for the right one. It came in the week of the 4th of July and all is well! I know it seems stressful, but there’s so many things that can and are going to happen. Someone told me to focus on it being a happy day, not being a perfect one. If you are okay with the dress she received, and it’s just an issue of it not being the one she picked, then I’d say just keep it and go with it. If it’s more of an issue that she’s not comfortable or it isn’t what you wanted, then I would definitely call DB

It's more that the dress is really uncomfortable for her. She's uniquely proportioned and it cuts into her arms and shoulders really badly.

I let my girls pick out their own dresses, the mismatched look is in and they're all very different builds so it just seemed the best way to do it. My 2 rules were it has to be floor length and not poofy. A friend of hers was in a wedding that used the exact same color but they had high-low dresses and her friend's fits her. If bad goes to Godzilla destroying Tokyo that is an option. One of our friends sews and has offered to hunt through a fabric store to try and find matching fabric and will put a layer on it to make it longer if it comes to that. I just hope they will at least refund her.

Hey all, quick update. Firstly, thanks for your help. We were quite worried. They acknowledged the mistake and are allowing her to return the dress. They are sending a box for her to ship it back in so she doesn't have to drive an hour and a half. The dress will be in September 14th, cutting it much closer than we would like. Hope they get it right this time.....
