What songs do you have to pick? Can we help?

I am not at that point yet, but my FH is big with music so he wants that to be his job honestly.

Father/daughter I can't help really since we aren't doing it, but if my dad had been alive we would have done Forever young

Son/Mother: Mama's song by Boyz II Men will be my FH and FMIL's song I believe

Dinner music: we aren't picking songs specifically, but our plan is to use 90s R&B. Think Luther Vandross, Keith Sweat, etc.

Garter toss we aren't doing but I've seen Another one bites the dust used a lot.

I am currently filling out our form for our DJ and didn't realize how many songs you need to pick (cake cutting, first dance, father/daughter, son/mother, ceremony entrance, reception entrance, bouquet toss, garter toss, etc.)!!

I'm having the hardest time figuring out specific songs, but I've been using Google a lot haha

Google was my best friend through this process! Lol I just searched specifically for what I needed (ex. Cake cutting songs or father/daughter dance songs).

I picked my father/daughter song because it's my dad's favorite song. FH let his mom pick out their song. We aren't picking a specific song for cake cutting but I was married before and we did Eat It by Weird Al and for garter toss we did the theme song to Mission Impossible. Lol Our DJ has a set list for cocktail hour and dinner so we didn't need to worry about that stuff. He will be playing soft jazz and classical music.

I have to agree with Michelle, my FH and I just spent an afternoon on google listening to a bunch of songs and filling out the DJ form of songs for every single moment. When we received this form from the DJ, we kind of just looked at each other and started laughing ( a cake cutting song?, who knew), we had fun with it. Here are some of the songs we chose, we are still thinking of what to use as a reception entrance song.

    Arrival of guests to ceremony

    Background music Love songs including:

    Moment like this- Kelly Clarkson

    Power of love- Celine Dion

    A Thousand years-Christina Perry

    Love Song – Adele

    4:00 pm Ceremony time

    1) Seating of mothers, grandmothers I See You -Leona Lewis

    2) Bridal party march I See You -Leona Lewis

    3) Processional-Bride’s march Lady- Kenny Rogers

    4) Recessional-Bride & Groom march Happy- Pharrell Williams

First dance I love you so much- Diego Luna and Gustavo Santaolalla

Father & daughter dance What a wonderful world- Louis Armstrong

Mother & son dance Because you loved me- Celine Dion

Garter toss Bad to the bone- George Thorogood

Cake cutting I Can’t help myself- The Four Tops

Father daughter dance: Le Vie en Rose by Edith Piaf
Dinner music: mostly soft instrumentals and movie soundtracks that many people won't pay attention to anyways.
Ceremony song: A piano cover of "When we Were Young" for the moms and bridesmaids. "Clair de Lune" for me.
Recessional song: Tenerife Sea by Ed Sheeran

I feel your pain. We are making our own playlist, start to finish and I keep reworking it so I'm pretty much always listening to music right now. While we are not doing most of the ceremonial moments you would need a song for I do have some ideas that might help.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo

In My Life - The Beatles

I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womick

I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - Sleeping At Last

    Take The World - Johnnyswim

You Are Mine - Spencer Combs

    Sweetest Thing - Allman Brown

    A Million Dreams - Pink

As for dinner music I highly recommend either acoustic or instrumental versions of songs you like. It makes it feel familiar but subtle enough so people can still talk and interact while they enjoy the meal. Enjoy!
