Songs!!!!

Micaiah, on May 16, 2019 at 8:12 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 7
So I have the next week off of work, and one of my main goals is to get my playlists put together (I'm DIY ing the DJ).
What songs are a must to play at your wedding? I had a spot on my RSVPs to suggest a song, but only about half of them actually listed a song.... so frustrating.
Also, what song are you playing for your parent processional? I know the song I'm walking to, and the bridal party, but I'm at a loss as to what to play for parents.

I was pretty detailed on the songs I provided my DJ. For the ceremony, we are using:

Walking in of grandmothers & mothers- "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong

Processional- "Can't Help Falling in Love With You" by Elvis Presley

Bride- "At Last" by Etta James

Unity Ceremony- "God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton

Recessional- "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder

I am still working on the songs for the reception, such as: grand entrance, mother/son dance, father/daughter dance, etc. However, this is a list of genres I want the DJ to play at different points of the reception with a list of songs as examples/inspiration:

You don't necessarily need a song for grandparents and parents to walk to.

For mine, DJ will announce the ceremony is about to begin then Grandparents and parents will walk in before the music starts. Then the whole wedding party is walking into "Me and You" by Kenny Chesney. Recessional for everyone is "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors. Reception Entrance is "Lets Get it Started" by Black Eyed Peas.

So if you absolutely want separate songs for grandparents and parents then absolutely go for it but I'm just saying it's not 100% necessary if you don't want it as well.

Hey Micaiah! Are there any songs that your parents love, or have always played at home? It might be cool to have a processional song that means something special to them.

In case it's helpful to anyone, we found some really great compilation playlists from Alexrainbirdmusic on youtube. We'll be playing one of their rock/ folk mixes during cocktail hour.
