Song to playing during Tree Planting at Ceremony

Kathryn, on August 20, 2015 at 10:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

At our "renewal" ceremony DH wants to plant an apple tree instead of doing the unity candle or sand. We are going to have a tree in a pot and have our parents bring soil from their yards and pour it in the pot to symbolize 2 families becoming one. He wants to do an apple tree because I bake apple pies. He says he wants to have a tree in our yard where we can get apples and bakes pies for our children and then our grandchildren. His sentiment was so sweet that we have to do this now.

We need to pick a song for this. We are doing the Forrest Gump Suite(feather song) as the processional and the Proclaimers 500 milespiano version for the recessional. I wanting something whimsical that perhaps matched. Any ideas about a song with a mention of a tree or something that would work in general. We are doing whimsical music as our preceremony music while the guests are sitting.

Also does anyone know how big an apple tree is when you buy it? I need to look into this to see if it will work.

Date twin! We are doing the same thing! Wait... are we having the same wedding?? Smiley winking

I still need to figure out the logistics of our apple tree, too. For songs, maybe "Here Comes the Sun" or something like that. I think that's kind of a whimsical song! I'll keep thinking!

Do you like country music? If not I'll not give you any suggestions haha. Where the Green Grass Grows was the first one that popped into my head by Tim McGraw but if you do I'll think of more!

Awesome Kelly! I have heard of people planting trees but not apple trees, that is awesome

Emily, I LOVE that song, DH doesnt like country though so he probably wouldnt be a huge fan of that. But I will ponder on that one cause he has been succumbing to my ideas lately to get me to shut up..... haha

How about, A Wonderful World, by Louis Armstrong? "I see trees of green, red roses too..."

There is an OLD song called "In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree", I think Louis Armstrong or Benny Goodman did a version of it.

Also, "Don't sit under the Apple Tree" by the Andrew Sisters might be fun...

This is an awesome idea!! As for height, they can be anywhere from 4-6 ft when you buy a sapling.

I found this thread and I will be doing an instrumental version of "Here Comes the Sun". It's perfect for the mood to plant the tree. Let's just hope that it doesn't ironically rain!
