Song mix

Has anyone made a song mix for the first dance / dance with parents? What tool did you use? How easy / hard was it to do yourself?

Are these the only songs you have for the reception? I think we will have a DJ, but for just playing a few songs, I think people could set this up in their phone or maybe a bridal party member could do this. The phone would have to go to a speaker system either wired or bluetooth.

Hi! I think this is a cool idea, mostly because the formal “first” dances can drag a little. I think 2 minutes for husband and wife dance, 2 minutes for father daughter and 2minutes mother son dance would be perfect. And especially if the different song selections flowed together!!

You could try iMovie on your phone, or WeVideo, or you could search “cut and blend mp3s online free” there are a few free websites that can do it real fast.

First I would decide with my family members what songs they want and for how long (from minute mark 0:00-2:15 or from 1:30-3:45, etc. and then once you have this info you can play around with it. It’s pretty easy to splice and blend mp3s in my opinion, you just need a bit of creativity and some willingness to google stuff. Good luck!

Thanks. those are good points to consider. It may help to try the dance for those durations to make sure you are happy with it. I had thought of just stopping at the end of each song in the play list. I guess it could be nice to add a fade out and fade in plus a half minute break (or non-dance "music") between the songs, if people are getting a bit fancy. It does make sense that many of the guests will not want certain portions of the reception taking too long.

Since it’s a mashup of songs just for the mother daughter dance, I’d definitely use iMovie. You can split tracks and overlap them and fade in and out. Then you can export the file as an mp3 instead of a movie file. WeVideo.com also can do this. Good luck!

Ok. So most music is taken care of. Great having a saxophone player too. You then are just providing a special mix to the DJ. You can use an audio file program called Audacity. This even has fade-in and fade-out if you like. You can also adjust the levels so there are not sudden changes how loud a song is. This would be done on a PC computer though

I worked with YouTube music to set up my wedding playlist. Not hard at all to set up, I found Spotify to be a bit trickier with playlists not sure why.
