Song for Highlight video

Krista, on June 4, 2012 at 9:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

I am stuck. I haven't the slightest idea on what song to use for my highlight video. I want something a little upbeat with some fun in it...but not too fast that it does not fit a wedding theme. Don't think i want a slow sappy song. Anybody have any ideas? I am so bad with songs.

Have you talked to your videographers to see if they have any ideas? We didn't get to choose our highlight reel song Smiley smile

I thought you used "Good life" by Onerepublic? You did not choose that?

I love that song and have considered that song.

I would watch a bunch of wedding videos online and then shazam any songs you like.

I love the songs we chose, but we're both into electronic music, so I don't know if they would be everyone's cup of tea.

Our first song was an acoustic version of Avicii's Levels/Fade into Darkness, and the second was "Feel so Close" by Calvin Harris/David Guetta.

    Faster - Matt Nathanson

I also second the Feel So Close, I really like that song Smiley smile

Here's another good electronic track we considered.

    Kaskade - Eyes

Usually if there's a song you really like, you can find slower/faster mashups of it if you search long and hard enough.

Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream

kind of funky and has good lyrics

Yup, that's the song for our highlight reel...I didn't choose it at all. But it was playing when the girls and I were getting ready and I did yell out "I love this song!! Turn it up!" And we all started singing to it. I'm sure my videographer heard me say that and made a mental note.

I love the song "Baby it's fact" by Hellogoodbye. I think it'd be a great highlights video song and it matches what you're asking for Smiley smile It has a few slow parts but the general vibe is lots of fun!

One thing to keep in mind is that the music industry is cracking down on using popular music in wedding videos, especially if they are going online. Many videographers don't care and still use anything, but they are taking a risk. The good news is that there are several places that videographers can license music and the one that has the most popular music is called Song Freedom and they have both Colbie Caillat and One Republic, among others.

All that to say, make sure what your videographer is doing in that area, if they are letting you pick your own song.
