Song advice

Kelly, on September 7, 2022 at 7:49 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6
Hello: we are getting close to the big day. I am dancing with my new father n law while my FH dances with his daughter just because we feel they should have also have a song in addition to us and our parent dance. This is the third dance so we are trying to avoid anymore solos and combine. I’m trying to think of a light hearted song that could suit my elderly father n law and my FH’s 26 yr old daughter.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

So do you mean anything like popular songs, movie themes and even classical? Provide a little sense of the style to help the suggestions.

I would suggest keeping dances short if you can. Three dances is 10 minutes at least, probably more like 15. A big chunk of time. You could have the DJ trim the length of the songs, or "share" one song with each person.

Any song aside from country is fine . The songs we are dancing to vary from Natalie merchant all the way back to Franki Valli. So it can be anything really. I had thought about Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World, but have had that as the last dance this whole time. I guess I could change it. I keep seeing Over the Rainbow but I think that is not a happy song. Maybe I am wrong on that.

I agree. I have asked the dj to invite others to dance after a couple minutes. Just want photos of our dance and the parent dance. So long enough to get those. I was set to do just those two solos, but then realized It would be nice to dance with my new father n law. And the groom with his daughter. I’m not too worried about it being significant as she will be dancing at her own wedding with him in less than a year só just want a song that suits both people. We will make it more of a dedication to them and then invite others to dance.

Over the Rainbow might be okay. At least it is not about a breakup. It only is sort of the dream held in suspension. You can search for the lyrics and decide
